## About the Role

* Hands-on engineering experience with NetApp and other storage technologies and concepts (Storage Area Network - SAN & Network Attached Storage - NAS) * Must have knowledge and understanding of protocols such as S3, CIFS, NFS, iSCI, and Fiber Channel Block Storage (SAN) * Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments (to include Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity, Rubrik, & CommVault * Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments * Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies * Senior-level experience with the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware platforms and data centers * Strong understanding of high availability concepts with practical experience and implementation of key components in storage environments * Strong understanding of fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID,
performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls), iSCSI, Fiber Channel, Ethernet * Strong understanding of essential TCP/IP concepts: TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, etc..

* Experience connecting storage arrays to Hypervisor Technologies (NUTANIX, VMWARE VCF, OpenStack). * Understanding of security best practices and federal hardening requirements (FISMA, STIG, etc.)
* CompTIA Security+ or similar certification for IAT Level II DoD 8570 compliance * Proficient written and oral communication skills

 * Strong collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team environment
 * Ability to take direction, * Experience scripting with Java using Linux
 * Strong background with Docker using Maven
 * Proficiency with Git/Gitlab; knowledge and experience with CI/CD and GitOps Principles
 * Expereince with Helm, Kubectl, and Kubernetes

Preferred:

 * Experience with Flux and Kustomize
 * Experience with kafka, kyverno and/or minio

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree with fifteen (15) years of relevant experience or bachelor's degree with twelve (12) years of relevant experience.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma with 20 years of relevant experience.

## Description

Hands on NetApp experience a MUST, * Design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade, and support various storage and backup platforms and associated management tools * Diagnose and troubleshoot storage systems and other related technologies * Adhere to engineering and architecture standards and participate in technical review meetings as required * Participate in the evaluation, deployment, management, and integration of new technologies in alignment with other engineers, architects, and technical service lanes * Provide incident support and participate in on-call rotation during off-hours and weekends * Create and maintain documentation: logical/physical diagrams, run books, and other technical engineering documents * Demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes * Oversee the installation of new storage hardware and software according to standard operating procedures * Oversee updates to hardware, operating systems, and software as needed to provide required functionality and
security * Ensure systems are monitored and statistics relevant to capacity, performance, utilization, etc., are collected and regularly reviewed * Keep abreast of current developments in storage and backup technology to assist Federal staff in assessing the future direction of storage and backup technology
