They will drive a multi-year transformation initiative modernizing a legacy Java monolithic application running on DB2 and WebSphere into a scalable, event-driven, domain-oriented microservices architecture. This includes designing and orchestrating loosely coupled solutions that enable faster speed to market and plug-and-play integration of new vendors and capabilities as business needs evolve. The role is heavily strategic and architectural in nature, with approximately 70% non-coding responsibilities, 25% proof-of-concept development, and close involvement in deployment architecture and production support considerations to ensure solutions are practical and resilient. The individual will collaborate closely with an existing data architect who owns the data domain, while taking ownership of application and integration architecture. This long-term role supports an ongoing transformation that will begin with the specific line of business and later be replicated across other business lines.
