Soft Skills * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Excellent troubleshooting abilities. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence. ## Description * It is a fairly part-time and a fully remote role; however, there can be a need to visit the Agency's data center in Silver Spring, MD in case of an outage or per client's request. * It is a multi-year project where the need is for an individual to "proactively" identify/implement areas of improvement and infuse automation around routine tasks (backups, recovery, patching, upgrades, etc.). Tangible progress/results and client satisfaction are of paramount importance here. * An individual must have a strong knowledge and understanding around consolidating and optimizing data sources, with an emphasis on improving data quality and process automation. * We are seeking an experienced Microsoft SQL Server Administrator (MSSQL DBA) to manage, maintain, secure, and optimize our SQL Server database environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in database administration, T-SQL development, stored procedures, query optimization, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting complex database issues. * This role requires a highly analytical professional who can support mission-critical applications by ensuring database reliability, security, scalability, high availability, and optimal performance., * Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments across development, testing, and production. * Design, develop, maintain, and optimize complex stored procedures, functions, views, and T-SQL scripts. * Write efficient SQL queries for reporting, integrations, ETL processes, and application support. * Analyze execution plans and optimize queries for maximum performance. * Monitor and tune database performance to minimize latency and maximize throughput., * Design, implement, and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies, including full, differential, and transaction log backups. * Perform database restore validation and recovery testing. * Support and maintain high-availability solutions, including Always on Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, and Replication. * Ensure database environments meet Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) requirements.
