Degrees from an accredited institution may be cumulatively substituted for experience. Preferred Credentials: PhD degree in a relevant field; comprehensive knowledge of and strong relationship with the research community in CPO interested fields; prior experience working at CPO or a similar agency., All positions must possess the following general skills and characteristics: * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project), Google Workspace (Mail, Docs, Sheets, Slides) * A highly motivated, energetic, and professional demeanor, with the ability to interface with senior, influential, international officials. * Strong foundation in ethical behavior, sound business judgment, and thorough research capabilities. ## Description IBSS is seeking highly motivated applicants to provide Scientific and Program Operations Services (POS) to CPO. These positions will execute programmatic tasks, conduct research, identify gaps in knowledge bases, and clearly communicate current and future environmental hazards and risks, as well as opportunities for applying knowledge to enhance resilience. Work will include the development of, and contributions to, knowledge bases at community, state, regional, national, and international levels, covering the following CPO divisions and programs: * CPO Director's Office * Earth System Science and Modeling (ESSM) Division * Atmospheric Chemistry, Carbon Cycle and Climate (AC4) * Modeling, Analysis, Predictions and Projections (MAPP) * Climate Observations and Monitoring (COM) * National Integrated Heat Health Information System (NIHHIS) Climate and Societal Interactions (CSI) Division * Adaptation Sciences (AdSci) * Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA), Professionals in this role provide mid-to-senior level technical, analytical, and scientific support across Climate Program Office (CPO) divisions such as Earth ESSM, AC4, MAPP, and COM. They serve as authoritative climate experts who guide high-level scientific strategy, formulate research initiatives, and translate complex Earth system research into actionable NOAA priorities.
