This role is for a designer with strong product judgment, systems thinking, and craft who can shape how AI shows up in the experience and turn evolving capabilities into workflows that are clear, useful, and grounded in real customer needs. You will work closely with UX, product, engineering, data, and AI teams to design experiences that are more adaptive, proactive, and context-aware, while maintaining trust, transparency, user control, and clear system limits. The role combines strong hands-on execution with meaningful product influence and calls for someone who can navigate complexity, make thoughtful design decisions, and help raise the quality of outcomes across teams. What You'll Do AI-Enabled Product Experiences Shape how AI capabilities show up and behave in the experience. Define patterns that make them clear, useful, and easy to act on. Design for trust, transparency, feedback, control, and safe use so users can understand what the system is doing, where its limits are, and how to respond when outputs vary or require judgment. Conversational, Proactive & Context-Aware Workflows Design experiences that use conversation, context, and automation to reduce friction in complex tasks. Create flows that respond to user intent, workflow state, and changing needs in ways that feel relevant and useful. Design for adaptive behavior and personalization where they improve the experience, while giving users clarity and control over how the system responds. End-to-End Product Design Drive design from discovery through execution across complex product areas. This includes problem framing, workflows, wireframes, prototyping, testing, and iteration. Go beyond standard deliverables by evaluating and refining how AI behaves in the experience, including how it guides users, responds to context, supports task completion, and recovers when confidence is low or outputs are incomplete. Product Influence & Cross-Functional Partnership Work closely with product, engineering, data, and AI teams to shape requirements and guide design decisions. Evaluate tradeoffs and turn evolving capabilities into useful, feasible outcomes that align with customer needs and business priorities. Help establish shared patterns that bring consistency to how AI-supported experiences behave across product areas. Research, Insight & Validation Use research and product data to inform design decisions from early concepts to final solutions. Validate the work through customer insight, testing, and evidence to improve usability and outcomes. Test and refine AI-supported experiences based on how people use them, especially when outputs are unclear, confidence varies, or users need better ways to understand, correct, or steer the system. Quality, Craft & Accessibility Create scalable, accessible experiences with a high bar for clarity, usability, consistency, and craft. Pay close attention to interaction quality, visual detail, and the overall experience across complex workflows, including moments where the system is adapting, suggesting, or acting on behalf of the user. Mentorship & Team Development Contribute to design quality through reviews, critique, and mentoring. Help strengthen team practices and support a culture of thoughtful feedback, continuous improvement, and modern design ways of working. ## Related Videos - [Building Collaborative Open Source tools for Developers and Designers - Pablo Ruiz-Muzquiz from Penpot](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1345-building-collaborative-open-source-tools-for-developers-and-designers-pablo-ruiz-muzquiz-from-penpot) - [Design Patterns For AI Products in 2026](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100255-design-patterns-for-ai-products-in-2026) - [Innovating Developer Tools with AI: Insights from GitHub Next](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1268-innovating-developer-tools-with-ai-insights-from-github-next) - [Insight into AI-Driven Design](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1016-insight-into-ai-driven-design) - [UX is a fullstack job!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1020-ux-is-a-fullstack-job) - [It's a Great Time to be a Builder: Leveraging AI for Good](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100042-it-s-a-great-time-to-be-a-builder-leveraging-ai-for-good) ## Related Articles - [The future is here: How artificial intelligence is influencing UX design](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/65-the-future-is-here-how-artificial-intelligence-is-influencing-ux-design) - [Navigating the AI Shift](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/629-navigating-the-ai-shift) - [How to Become an AI Engineer](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/331-how-to-become-an-ai-engineer) - [Top AI Tools for Developers in 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/560-top-ai-tools-for-developers-in-2025) - [Got AI ideas but no money?
