You can build a clean, usable interface without detailed mockups. * Open-source work or writing you're proud of. * German for customer conversations. Not required, we have native speakers for that. ## Description As founding full-stack engineer at Alago, you build AI-native project management software from the database all the way to the UI. You work inside a startup environment that needs you to take a high amount of ownership. You'd be one of our first engineers, with full technical ownership of the product and a direct line to the founders. You own it end to end, from the database to the UI, shipping features straight to customers who are solving real problems in an industry that's barely been digitized. The work runs across the whole stack: database design, the APIs on top of it, and fast, responsive frontends people actually want to use. You'll design systems that hold up under complex workflows and large volumes of construction data, and make architecture calls with performance, maintainability, and developer experience in mind. Most of it is well past CRUD. You reason from user pain to solution to measurable outcome, and you can talk to a non-technical customer and understand their workflow. You prototype fast and measure everything, but you care about reliability, because on a live construction project, wrong has consequences. A lot of these problems don't have answers yet, so you read papers, prototype, and compare approaches instead of waiting for a best practice. How we work: we optimize for speed. Instant deployments, no infra pain, developer velocity over cost. AI is part of the day to day, not a side project. Every engineer gets €500+/month in tooling like Cursor background agents and Claude Code, and AI agents in the product team handle the small features and fixes, so your time goes to the problems that are actually hard. You'll work closely with Vinzenz (CTO) and Ann (CPO), who put developer experience over premature optimization. Full technical autonomy over the tools you pick, a greenfield codebase, no legacy. Tech stack: TypeScript · Next.js · Vercel · Supabase (Postgres + pgvector) · TanStack Query · shadcn/ui Profil Requirements This role suits a full-stack engineer who wants to join at the earliest stage and build a product that changes how an entire industry works. Must-haves * Strong full-stack in TypeScript and React/Next.js. You build complex, performant frontends and the backend APIs behind them. * Database design and optimization. You've designed schemas, optimized queries, and worked with complex data relationships. Construction data is deeply interconnected. * API design. You've built and consumed REST APIs, handled auth and rate limiting, and designed interfaces that scale with the product. * Product sense. You reason from user pain to solution to measurable outcome, and you can talk to non-technical customers and understand their workflows. * Startup pace with judgment. You turn feedback into shipped features fast and make pragmatic architecture calls, but you care about reliability because wrong has consequences on a live construction project. ## Related Videos - [Build and Deploy a Fullstack App with Open Source Tooling](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/775-build-and-deploy-a-fullstack-app-with-open-source-tooling) - [Watch Tests Go Brrrr! : Getting Started with Cypress in ReactJS](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/282-watch-tests-go-brrrr-getting-started-with-cypress-in-reactjs) - [GraphQL + Apollo + Next.js: A Lovely Trio](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/311-graphql-apollo-next-js-a-lovely-trio) - [Rest API Antipatterns](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100208-rest-api-antipatterns) - [Meet Your New BFF: Backend to Frontend without the Duct Tape](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/682-meet-your-new-bff-backend-to-frontend-without-the-duct-tape) - [Throwing off the burdens of scale in engineering](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/608-throwing-off-the-burdens-of-scale-in-engineering) ## Related Articles - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Fullstack developer salary in Germany [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/197-fullstack-developer-salary-in-germany-2023) - [The Biggest German Tech Companies](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/424-the-biggest-german-tech-companies) - [Navigating the AI Shift](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/629-navigating-the-ai-shift) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [Where to Find German Tech Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/366-where-to-find-german-tech-jobs)
