## About the Role

* Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Factory, Warehousing) to lead and accelerate our active rollout.
 * Advanced experience in T-SQL development, query optimization, and performance tuning within Microsoft SQL Server.
 * Proven track record of DBA responsibilities, maintaining database efficiency, and supporting production data environments.
 * Deep understanding of designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts (e.g., star schemas).
 * Strong knowledge of data quality principles, validation, governance, and data integrity controls.
 * Excellent communication skills-able to break down complex technical topics and communicate effectively with non-technical business stakeholders.

Required Competencies

 * Proactive mindset: someone who takes initiative, asks "why," and constantly seeks to drive efficiencies and performance improvements.
 * A passion for mentoring, coaching, and developing talent (from apprentices to experienced engineers).
 * Strong analytical, root-cause investigation, and problem-solving skills.

Required Work Experience

 * Significant experience in data engineering or data platform management, with a track record of translating business requirements into scalable data solutions.
 * Experience supporting modern data platform migrations, lakehouse architectures, or system modernization projects.
 * Prior experience developing semantic models and using tools like Power BI is highly desirable, * Degree in IT, Science, Maths, or equivalent industry experience.

## Description

You will join a warm, collaborative team with plenty going on-from modernising legacy systems and rebuilds to AI integration. As a Senior, you will play a hands-on role in DBA management, driving platform improvements, building capacity, and ensuring our data is live, robust, and high-performing. Crucially, following a successful pilot, you will help accelerate our group-wide rollout of Microsoft Fabric.

Beyond the tech, you will be a key mentor and coach-supporting everyone from our apprentices to our more experienced Data Engineers.
