In this role, you will be responsible for being a key technical contributor and/or project manager for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Certification and/or testing related to complicated projects and will serve as a mentor and provides guidance to less experienced EMC engineers. The Operations Team is responsible for partnering with cross functional engineering teams to achieve EMC and radio transmitter certifications. Essential Functions * Reviews new project proposals and provides guidance to resolve any issues * Demonstrates good knowledge of all Garmin products and their respective certification and testing requirements across multiple platforms * Creates and executes test programs to suit multiple certification programs * Regularly demonstrates creativity and ingenuity to develop reliable solutions to complex problems * Leads regulatory compliance test planning and ensures adherence to standards for new market projects or those involving modular certifications, new standards, or directives * Manages compliance testing for advanced, complex products, including multi-unit systems and multi-market projects requiring coordination with multiple engineering departments and regulatory bodies * Conducts regulatory research and development for complex projects with limited precedent * Contributes significantly to compliance reviews across various product lines * Leads EMC planning for systems with multiple transmitter modules and provides expert-level peer assessments in areas of expertise * Represents Garmin among industry partners, peer groups and regulatory agencies (FAA/EASA/RTCA/GAMA/OEM/Audits/FCC/IEEE) * Researches global EMC certification standards, conducts feasibility studies, and advises leadership with business-driven recommendations * Aligns compliance strategies with Garmin's business functions, including operations, production, sales and marketing * Initiates new procedures when warranted * Initiates process improvements and defines effective compliance methodologies using state-of-the-art tools and practices * Influences corporate decisions related to long-term compliance goals and regulatory initiatives * Provides regulatory input during product development related to EMC and safety design for circuits and PCB layouts * Supports the advancement of compliance standards and next-generation test methods within the regulatory community * Applies advanced regulatory expertise to ensure products meet legal requirements in all target markets * Assists engineering management with policy updates and monitors upcoming regulations to minimize business impact * Leads advanced regulatory research into emerging technologies and markets with minimal supervision * Organizes program goals and develops internal standards for compliance test activities * Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced EMC Engineers (EMC Engineer 1 & 2, Senior EMC Engineer) ## Related Videos - [Developing the Rich Text Editor for DeepL.com](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1172-developing-the-rich-text-editor-for-deepl-com) - [You’re a great coder?
