At this level the engineer leads peers in technical reviews, drives safety integration across their domain, provides scoping and estimation for new work, and begins to mentor less experienced engineers. The SE III is the primary technical point of contact for their assigned systems., * Lead stakeholder identification and analysis for assigned systems; facilitate resolution of competing needs in coordination with the Systems Architect and Dev Manager; own KPI tracking through program milestones. * Own translation of product goals into comprehensive, hierarchically structured requirements; author detailed specifications and enforce requirements quality standards across the team. * Generate, maintain, and baseline ICDs for subsystem and vehicle-level interactions. * Lead the use of diagramming and modeling techniques to define and communicate system and subsystem structure, behavior, and interfaces; select appropriate models for the problem domain. * Lead requirements prioritization for assigned systems alongside the Dev Manager and Systems Architect; provide technical rationale for decisions and lead change impact analysis across subsystem boundaries. * Co-lead safety analyses (HARAs, STPAs, FMEAs) with Safety Engineers; ensure derived safety requirements are fully integrated into specifications. * Lead structured validation sessions to confirm requirements reflect stakeholder needs; track all discrepancies through to closure. * Conduct trade studies with SMEs, including make/buy/reuse analysis; evaluate new feature requests for feasibility and effort; provide recommendations to the Systems Architect and Dev Manager. * Actively contribute to ConOps development for assigned systems in support of the Systems Architect; define lifecycle requirements including operational transition and product sunsetting criteria. * Derive and trace requirements from applicable standards (ISO 15288, ISO 9001, ISO 25119, IEC 61508, ISO 34503, and others per vehicle/project domain). * Co-chair design reviews with the Dev Manager; own traceability and compliance disposition; review and approve test plans for coverage completeness. * Represent SE in business development and customer technical meetings; provide informal mentorship to SE I and SE II engineers. ## Related Videos - [Remote Driving on Plant Grounds with State-of-the-Art Cloud Technologies](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/251-remote-driving-on-plant-grounds-with-state-of-the-art-cloud-technologies) - [One Platform Could Not Fit Them All](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1919-one-platform-could-not-fit-them-all) - [Destigmatizing the Workplace: Building Real Inclusion](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1492-destigmatizing-the-workplace-building-real-inclusion) - [Robots are coming into the wild!
