We build powerful, scalable, and elegant software that sets a new standard for the tools upon which our first responders rely. Our users are diverse, and we are therefore committed to embracing diversity of thought and experience within our team. The Mark43 law enforcement platform delivers mission-critical services to agencies across the country. When our systems are unavailable, real-world safety is impacted. As a Platform Engineer, you will take ownership of critical platform capabilities that ensure our systems are reliable, scalable, and equally important: enable engineers to build, deploy, and operate software with speed and confidence. In this role, you will operate at the intersection of platform engineering and developer experience (DevEx). You will design and evolve internal platforms as products, reducing friction across the software development lifecycle while maintaining strong standards for reliability, security, and compliance. While this role includes opportunities to work on observability systems, prior experience in observability platforms is not required - we value engineers who can learn quickly and apply strong platform fundamentals. You'll use tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD, and DataDog to build scalable platform primitives and improve developer workflows across the organization. What you'll work on * Owning and evolving Mark43's internal developer platform, focusing on reliability, scalability, and developer productivity * Building self-service platform capabilities (Infrastructure-as-Code modules, GitOps workflows, golden paths, and onboarding templates) * Improving developer experience (DevEx) by reducing friction in local development, CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and debugging workflows * Designing and optimizing pipeline-as-code systems to improve build performance, reliability, and feedback cycles * Driving adoption of GitOps and Infrastructure as Code best practices across the organization * Leading initiatives to improve operational excellence, including system reliability, resilience, and incident response * Partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Security teams to align platform capabilities with business needs * Owning and delivering large, cross-team platform initiatives that shape how engineers build and operate software at MARK43 * Participating in a shared on-call rotation to support critical infrastructure, Our team is distributed across the United States, with offices in New York, Boston, and Manchester, UK. We are a remote-friendly company and support candidates working from approved states. ## Related Videos - [From DevOps to Scaled DevOps: How We’re Rebuilding Continuous Delivery as a Platform](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100018-from-devops-to-scaled-devops-how-we-re-rebuilding-continuous-delivery-as-a-platform) - [Shipping Faster with Less: Render on Cloud Hosting, AI Workloads, and the Future of DevOps](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1894-shipping-faster-with-less-render-on-cloud-hosting-ai-workloads-and-the-future-of-devops) - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [Debugging in the Dark](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1658-debugging-in-the-dark) - [DevOps Maturity Check – a way to balance autonomy and alignment](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/58-devops-maturity-check-a-way-to-balance-autonomy-and-alignment) - [Docker build without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100114-docker-build-without-docker) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [Find a Developer Job: 12 Best Job Sites For Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/165-find-a-developer-job-12-best-job-sites-for-developers) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Navigating the AI Shift](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/629-navigating-the-ai-shift) - [Best Job Boards for Remote Work for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/290-best-job-boards-for-remote-work-for-developers)
