Please note that sponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization, or any other immigration-related support, is not available for this position at this time. ## Description We are seeking a Software Architect who fundamentally understands that software architecture is an economic and business tool, not just an academic exercise. We do not want an "Ivory Tower" architect who dictates policy from afar. Instead, we need a hands-on, pragmatic leader who operates as a "civil servant" to our execution teams, embedding with them to understand their daily friction and validating strategies through shared struggle. You will act as the technical North Star for the organization, driving major technical transitions, shaping our organizational design, and scaling the technical baseline of our entire engineering department., * Pragmatic Architectural Modernization: Lead the strategic extraction of our move into a distributed architecture using Domain-Driven Design and other patterns as you see fit. You will ensure we avoid premature over-engineering, balancing technical purity with immediate business ROI and speed to market. * Sociotechnical & Organizational Design: Apply Conway's Law and actively utilize the "Inverse Conway Maneuver" to ensure our organizational chart and team communication pathways naturally produce loosely coupled, scalable software. * Platform Engineering Strategy: Guide the creation of our internal developer platform, ensuring it is treated as a tier-one product rather than a ticketing desk. You will define the "Thinnest Viable Platform" to radically reduce developer cognitive load while maintaining team autonomy. * Decentralized Leadership & Mentorship: Build scalable frameworks for knowledge transfer and asynchronous decision-making (such as RFCs and Architecture Decision Records) that elevate our engineers without creating bureaucratic bottlenecks. You will actively mentor Staff and Principal engineers, helping them navigate complex technical conflicts using data-driven discovery. * Executive Alignment: Act as the bilingual translation layer between the C-suite and the engineering floor. You will quantify technical debt, translate architectural constraints into financial and operational risks, and rigorously calculate the Total Cost of Ownership for critical "build vs. buy" decisions. * Other duties as assigned., In connection with your application, we collect information that identifies, reasonably relates to or describes you ("Personal Information"). The categories of Personal Information that we may collect include your name, government-issued identification number(s), email address, mailing address, other contact information, emergency contact information, employment history, educational history, and demographic information. We collect and use those categories of Personal Information about you for human resources and other business management purposes, including identifying and evaluating you as a candidate for potential or future employment or future positions, recordkeeping in relation to recruiting and hiring, conducting analytics, and ensuring compliance with applicable legal requirements and Company policies. By submitting your application, you acknowledge that we may retain some of the personal data that you provide in your application for our internal operations such as managing our recruitment system and ensuring that we comply with labor laws and regulations even after we have made our employment decision. Notice To Third Party Agencies: EnergyHub understands the value of professional recruiting services. However, we are not accepting resumes from recruiters or employment agencies for this position. In the event we receive a resume or candidate referral for this position from a third-party recruiter or agency without a previously signed agreement, we reserve the right to pursue and hire those candidate(s) without any financial obligation to you. ## Related Videos - [Resolving technical debts in software architecture](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1680-resolving-technical-debts-in-software-architecture) - [PySpark - Combining Machine Learning & Big Data](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/44-pyspark-combining-machine-learning-big-data) - [Best Practices for AI-Assisted Development of Distributed Systems](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100200-best-practices-for-ai-assisted-development-of-distributed-systems) - [Next Level Enterprise Architecture: Modular, Flexible, Scalable, Multichannel and AI-Ready?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1017-next-level-enterprise-architecture-modular-flexible-scalable-multichannel-and-ai-ready) - [Your Code as a Crime Scene](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1342-your-code-as-a-crime-scene) - [From Messy Queries to Scalable Systems - How Data Engineering actually works](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100203-from-messy-queries-to-scalable-systems-how-data-engineering-actually-works) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Where To Find Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/396-where-to-find-software-engineering-jobs) - [Résumé-Driven Development: How IT trends affect the job market for software developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/59-resume-driven-development-how-it-trends-affect-the-job-market-for-software-developers) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline)
