This position directly supports the Department of Defense medical mission by ensuring highly complex LAN/WLAN/WAN infrastructure is properly engineered, secured, optimized, and maintained to meet DHA and Military Health System (MHS) requirements. The Senior Network Engineer serves as the premier network subject matter expert (SME) for the CONUS region and acts as a global point of contact for advanced network engineering issues., * Serve as the senior technical authority for LAN/WLAN/WAN network infrastructure across DHA medical facilities. * Identify, research, and resolve complex network and routing protocol issues at all layers of the OSI model. * Provide high-level installation, configuration, documentation, optimization, and troubleshooting of enterprise network systems. * Act as the primary point of contact for: * Network configuration management * Communications interconnection * Addressing and multi-protocol routing * Network management and optimization Utilize enterprise tools including: * Orion SolarWinds * ARMIS * Ansible Monitor and optimize network performance using MIBs, MRTG, and related performance management methodologies. Establish and configure network security systems including: * Firewalls * VPN appliances * Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) Maintain and enhance LAN/WLAN/WAN boundary protections to prevent unauthorized access to MTF systems. Develop, update, and enforce network standards in coordination with the Network Standards Team. Provide written technical recommendations, policy updates, and network enhancement documentation. Evaluate vendor products and recommend solutions aligned with DoD and DHA requirements. Advise and consult with Government personnel and contractor teams on network design, deployment, and optimization. Communicate status updates and technical findings to leadership, medical stakeholders, and technical teams.
