These opportunities directly support the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH. This opportunity offers hands-on experience in the fabrication of wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor devices within a cleanroom environment and/or contribution to the electrical characterization of these devices. The selected candidate(s) will learn essential microelectronics fabrication processes and will be tasked with designing and fabricating devices such as field-effect transistors (FETs) and diodes. In addition, the intern will apply solid-state physics concepts to analyze the behavior and performance of their devices through electrical test data. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals, gain hands-on experience, and build their reputation in this high-demand career field. While prior knowledge of semiconductor physics is not required, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong aptitude for learning and applying new concepts in a laboratory setting., Required: + Security Clearance: Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance + Education: Senior undergraduate or graduate student in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or any other related physical science/engineering/technical degree with appropriate experience + Computer Literate: must know how to use computers and software applications. Experienced with Microsoft Excel. Desired: + Self-Motivated: self-motivated and able to work independently. + Team-Oriented: Capable of collaborating effectively within a team environment. + Communications Skills: have good communication skills, both oral and written. + Strong Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions. + Detail-Oriented: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks.
