Azure OpenAI, The ideal candidate is first and foremost a seasoned mainframe engineer with deep COBOL and DB2 expertise who can also work comfortably alongside distributed engineering teams. Experience integrating REST APIs using XML/JSON and exposure to Java and AWS are important because the role supports modernization efforts rather than being exclusively legacy-focused. Strong communication skills are a key requirement, as the engineer will work across multiple teams, participate in code reviews, document solutions, and help bridge legacy mainframe systems with modern cloud-native applications.
Must Have:

 * Mainframe Development
 * COBOL/ DB2
 * Experience with Distributed Systems (Java, AWS)
 * Must be a solid communicator

## Description

The position centers on hands-on mainframe development using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and Syncsort while maintaining high-volume production systems, troubleshooting complex issues, and supporting both batch and online processing. The engineer will also collaborate closely with distributed development teams to integrate legacy mainframe applications with modern Java, Spring Boot, REST API, and AWS-based solutions as part of ongoing cloud modernization initiatives.
