We run hundreds of analysis to continually optimize our product, each with its own analytical and tracking challenges. The complexity of our subscription model, along with the unique dynamics of tutor-learner interactions, offers an exciting opportunity for those looking to make a real impact. As a Staff Data Analyst , you will own the data strategy for a critical product domain (e.g., Growth, Retention, Marketplace) and act as the senior analytical authority in that space. You will partner with Directors and VPs across Business, Operations, Product, and Engineering to shape long-term strategy, influence investment decisions, and ensure our roadmap is grounded in rigorous, scalable measurement frameworks. Our Data Team is dedicated to empowering top-quality decision-making. Do you want to know how? Visit our Tech Radar to learn about the technologies we use at Preply! What you'll be doing: + Build and own the analytical framework leadership uses to evaluate B2B trade-offs, and define the long-term measurement framework that identifies structural growth levers, not just incremental wins. + Lead retention and cohort analyses that answer specific open questions from B2B leadership, turning findings into concrete pricing, product, or lifecycle recommendations. + Own impact modeling and scenario analysis for major B2B product initiatives, feeding directly into quarterly and annual planning through forecasting, trade-off analysis, and risk assessment. + Own metric definitions and governance for B2B, including resolving conflicting definitions across teams and maintaining a single source of truth others are expected to use. + Design the experimentation and analytics agenda: what gets tested, how success is measured, and run the analysis that determines whether initiatives actually moved the needle. + Partner with Directors and VPs across product, ops, and engineering to shape B2B strategy, mentor senior analysts to raise the analytical bar, and occasionally extend that work beyond B2B when company-level questions require it. What you need to succeed: + You can point to one or more specific decisions (a pricing change, a resourcing call, a roadmap cut) that happened because of your analysis, and one where your recommendation was rejected and you can explain why, in hindsight, that was right or wrong. + You've owned a metric or strategic framework other teams were required to use, and resolved a conflict between two teams who each wanted a different definition to win. + You understand subscription or marketplace economics well enough to build an LTV or cohort model from scratch, not just interpret one someone else built. + Fluent, independent SQL and Python. You are the person other analysts send their code to for review, not the person waiting on review. + You've said no to a stakeholder's request because it wasn't the right question, and you've been right to. + You've built a forecast or scenario model that a VP used to defend a bet to their own leadership. ## Related Videos - [Python Data Visualization @ Deepnote (w/ PyViz overview)](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/113-python-data-visualization-deepnote-w-pyviz-overview) - [REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and more: A comparison of modern API styles](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100247-rest-graphql-grpc-and-more-a-comparison-of-modern-api-styles) - [Launching a marketplace on-time: A lesson in taking shortcuts using spreadsheets!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/477-launching-a-marketplace-on-time-a-lesson-in-taking-shortcuts-using-spreadsheets) - [Fault Tolerance and Consistency at Scale: Harnessing the Power of Distributed SQL Databases](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1146-fault-tolerance-and-consistency-at-scale-harnessing-the-power-of-distributed-sql-databases) - [Data Analytics with Microsoft Fabric: End-to-End Use Case with Data Agents](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1547-data-analytics-with-microsoft-fabric-end-to-end-use-case-with-data-agents) - [Fault Tolerance and Consistency at Scale: Harnessing the Power of Distributed SQL Databases](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1520-fault-tolerance-and-consistency-at-scale-harnessing-the-power-of-distributed-sql-databases) ## Related Articles - [Data Analyst Salary in the UK](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/278-data-analyst-salary-in-the-uk) - [Data Analyst Salary Germany](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/277-data-analyst-salary-germany) - [Making Data Warehouses Fast: A Developer’s Story](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/107-making-data-warehouses-fast-a-developer-s-story) - [Data Engineer Salary UK](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/253-data-engineer-salary-uk) - [Spanish Business Culture and Etiquette](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/353-spanish-business-culture-and-etiquette) - [Data Analyst Salary Austria](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/275-data-analyst-salary-austria)
