Comfortable with performing hands-on technical work. OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety certification preferred but not required. Preferred Skills Experience working in high-performance computing (HPC) or hyperscale data centre environments. Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), remote monitoring tools, or facility controls. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment. Ability to work to driven targets and SLA and time management skills. ## Description Join a leading independent technology and services provider as a Technical Operative 2 - Datacentre Engineer! Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled Datacentre Engineer with a strong mechanical and technical background to support the Customisation & Deployment of server/enterprise equipment within high-performance and Datacentre environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Datacentres. We are looking for the above skillset/experience combined with a strong commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role will be based in our Hatfield Integration Centre working closely with our Operational, consultancy & infrastructure teams. Location: Hatfield AL10 9TW Rate: An hourly rate, in-scope IR35, of £15.99 (PAYE) OR £20.75 per hour (via a Hays Approved Umbrella Company). Contract Length: up to 31st Oct 2026 Shift Timings: Mon - Fri (08:00 AM to 04:00 PM) Key Responsibilities Rack n stack of active Network hardware, switches, routers & servers Understand and follow patching schedule/cut sheet. Installing power and data connection cables within server & networking racks. Follow instructions and providing on-site support to remote network and systems administrators. Read & follow Rack Elevation Diagrams Apply basic IP Addressing under instruction/direction. Installing and configuring UPS systems (Desirable) Collaborate with engineering, project management, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful and timely deployments. Follow all safety procedures, industry standards, and environmental guidelines during field operations.
