Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office. ## Description The Data Engineer I is responsible for supporting the development, testing, and maintenance of data pipelines and data assets that contribute to MetLife's data and analytics ecosystem. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, this role participates in data engineering initiatives while building technical expertise in cloud technologies, data integration, and modern data platforms., This is an opportunity for an early-career data engineer to develop experience with Databricks, Azure, ETL/ELT development, and enterprise data platforms while contributing to project delivery as part of a collaborative team. * Assist with the development, testing, and maintenance of ETL/ELT pipelines on Databricks and Azure platforms under the guidance of senior team members. * Support data ingestion, transformation, and validation activities for structured and unstructured data sources. * Participate in the implementation of dimensional data models and help prepare data for reporting and analytics use cases. * Monitor data pipelines and scheduled processes and assist with troubleshooting issues identified by senior engineers. * Support data quality, governance, and documentation activities using established team standards and procedures. * Participate in code reviews, testing activities, and deployment support tasks. * Collaborate with business and technology partners to understand data requirements and support solution delivery. * Contribute to Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
