You own the detailed design of rotating and static components - impellers, blisks, shafts, housings, and combustors - and you carry enough of your own structural analysis to know your parts will survive before they are ever cut., * Own the detailed design of rotating parts (impellers, blisks, shafts, rotor stacks) and static structure (housings, casings, hot-section) from concept to release. * Produce manufacturing-ready drawing packages: GD&T per ASME Y14.5, tolerance stack-ups, and specifications the shop and suppliers can build from. * Run your own structural FEA - static, thermal-structural, modal, and fatigue / life - to size and de-risk parts before they are ever cut. * Design for manufacturability across precision machining, casting, and additive, working directly with the shop and suppliers. * See parts through build and test, folding what the test stand teaches back into the next revision. * Move fluidly across the design, build, and test loop as the program needs., * Own problems the moment you see them and drive them to resolution regardless of whose area they touch * Lead by example at every level, and check your ego at the door. The best idea wins, full stop * Can prioritize ruthlessly when the list is longer than the day * Believe that discipline and rigor are what create the freedom to move fast - not obstacles to it Joining a company this early is not for everyone. And the people who do their best work here tend to know exactly why they want it. What makes it exceptional: you won't be maintaining someone else's legacy. You'll help define the architecture from first principles, follow your work all the way to fielded hardware. You will operate with almost no layers between an idea and a decision. Real breadth, real ownership, real stakes. ## Related Videos - [How to Domain Model – An example from manufacturing](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/742-how-to-domain-model-an-example-from-manufacturing) - [XR Demystified: Separating Facts from Fiction in 2024](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1117-xr-demystified-separating-facts-from-fiction-in-2024) - [Cloud Vendor Lock-In - Is it just a new version of the Database Abstraction Layers?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1185-cloud-vendor-lock-in-is-it-just-a-new-version-of-the-database-abstraction-layers) - [Google Gemma and Open Source AI Models - Clement Farabet](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1354-google-gemma-and-open-source-ai-models-clement-farabet) - [Colorful quantum randomness](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100257-colorful-quantum-randomness) - [Building a hypercar from scratch](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/607-building-a-hypercar-from-scratch) ## Related Articles - [Top Characteristics of a Software Engineer](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/166-top-characteristics-of-a-software-engineer) - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [How software is steering vehicle technology](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/515-how-software-is-steering-vehicle-technology) - [What is Software Engineering?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/289-what-is-software-engineering) - [Is Software Engineering Hard?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/448-is-software-engineering-hard) - [Software Engineer Career: Things You Should Know](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/143-software-engineer-career-things-you-should-know)
