Please note that prior to appointment, individuals claiming preference under one of these categories will be required to furnish documentation establishing their eligibility. ## Description The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is seeking to hire two (2) highly motivated student assistant to become a member of its Portable Equipment Registration Program (PERP) team in the Enforcement Division to work closely with a dynamic team of Air Pollution Specialists (APS), Air Resources Engineers (ARE), Analyst II's , Office Technicians (OT), and Air Resources Technicians (ART), and perform administrative duties throughout the portable equipment registration process. Responsibilities include working with APSs and AREs in evaluating, processing portable temporary applications, replacements requests and generating emission limitations for operating conditions. Student assistants will be working heavily with ARTs in multiple scanning and indexing efforts that include daily Program mail, historical documentation, and compliance reporting and assisting Analyst II's with monthly renewal mailers, any compliance mass mailing efforts, and perform other ad-ministrative support tasks within the Section and/or Branch as needed. This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework. The amount of telework is at the agency's discretion and is based on CARB's current telework policy. While CARB may support telework, some in-person attendance is also required. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position's designated headquarters location at their own expense. Conditions of Employment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. Work Schedule F lexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 6 AM - 6 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Additional Work Schedule Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer)., + Provide administrative and technical support for CARB's Portable Equipment Registration Program (PERP). + Review, evaluate, and process portable equipment temporary registration applications and replacement requests. + Generate emissions limitations based on approved operating conditions. + Assist Air Resources Technicians (ARTs) with scanning, indexing, and organizing program records, including daily incoming mail, historical documentation, and compliance reports. + Support Analyst II staff with the preparation and distribution of monthly renewal notices. + Assist with compliance-related mass mailings and outreach efforts. + Maintain accurate program records and ensure timely processing of documentation.Perform general administrative and operational support tasks for the Section and Branch as assigned. Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation. Working Conditions Work is performed in a Hybrid environment and with 5% Field work. Students/Employees will be required to work according to the current UEI remote workplace policy and sign a UEI Work from Home Agreement. The decision to permit an employee to work from home is at the discretion of the supervisor or employer and may, at any time and with or without cause, unilaterally terminate the option to work from home. Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and uneven terrain. May require occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, or climbing as part of field duties.
