## Description

The Desktop Support Specialist plays a key part in keeping the City's technology running smoothly. You'll respond to equipment issues, support end users, maintain hardware and software, and assist with ongoing improvements to the City's IT environment. Your work directly supports the efficiency and effectiveness of City operations., * Respond to trouble calls and diagnose equipment issues.

 * Perform local and remote testing, including running diagnostic programs.
 * Repair equipment, build cables, replace components, and identify hardware failures.
 * Prepare and install computers, peripherals, and network connections.
 * Assist with software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
 * Diagnose and resolve hardware and software malfunctions.
 * Coordinate equipment repairs with external vendors.
 * Maintain inventory of spare parts and repurpose usable components.
 * Implement and maintain information systems and enhancements.
 * Train users on basic computer and equipment operation.
 * Assist in developing proposals for IT system procurement.
 * Operate IT-related equipment such as scanners, printers, plotters, and graphics devices.
 * Support demonstrations, site preparations, equipment moves, and wiring changes.
 * Review system logs to ensure proper server operation.
 * Follow security procedures to protect systems and data integrity.
 * Monitor network activity and assist remote users.
 * Respond to equipment malfunctions and coordinate vendor support when needed.
 * Perform other related duties as assigned.
