## About the Role

* At least five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience providing technical support for computer networks, information technology infrastructure, or related systems
 * Demonstrated knowledge of:
 + TCP/IP networking fundamentals
 + Basic routing and switching concepts
 + DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and IP addressing
 + Network troubleshooting methodologies and diagnostic tools
 + Microsoft Active Directory fundamentals
 + Installing, configuring, and maintaining network hardware and software
 * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, system users, and county employees
 * Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
 * Ability to work off-hours, including early/late shifts, scheduled upgrades, maintenance windows, on-call rotations, and emergency response as needed

Preferred Qualifications/Transferrable Skills:*

 * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
 * One (1) or more years of experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
 * Experience configuring or supporting HPE Aruba and /or Arista networking equipment.
 * Experience with enterprise wireless networking solutions.
 * Experience supporting firewalls, VPN technologies, or network security appliances.
 * Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
 * Experience supporting Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise authentication services.
 * Experience working in a large, multi-site organization.
 * Industry certifications such as:
 + CompTIA Network+
 + Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
 + Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate
 + Fortinet NSE or equivalent firewall certification

## Description

This is not a remote work position. The incumbent will be expected to report on-site for in-person meetings, team collaboration, trainings, or other operational needs as determined by the department., Clackamas County seeks a motivated, customer-focused Network Administrator to join our Technology Services team. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an IT professional to expand their networking expertise while supporting the technology infrastructure that keeps county services running every day. Working alongside experienced network administrators, you will gain hands-on experience with enterprise networking systems, contribute to technology projects, and help ensure reliable, secure connectivity for employees across the county.

As a Network Administrator, you will help maintain and support the county's enterprise network by monitoring system health, responding to alerts, troubleshooting wired and wireless connectivity issues, and assisting end users and the Help Desk with network problems. You will install, configure, maintain, and repair network equipment including routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, VPN devices, and other hardware. Your responsibilities include network moves, adds, and changes; IP address assignment; patch cable installation; telecommunications room and data center support; and routine network administration, including Active Directory, VLANs, DNS, web filtering, and remote access. You will also assist with technology projects, support network maintenance, travel to county facilities as needed, and work alongside senior network administrators to build your enterprise networking skills.

 * Monitor network health and performance using established tools. Analyze network utilization to identify issues like high traffic or downtime. Respond to alerts from monitoring systems and equipment. Escalate issues appropriately.
 * Troubleshoot basic connectivity issues using tools like ping, traceroute, netstat, and ipconfig to resolve wired and wi-fi problems, IP conflicts, performance concerns, routing issues, and DNS and DHCP problems. Conduct tests and compare results to known-good baselines. Assist the helpdesk with end-user network troubleshooting.
 * Install, replace, maintain, and repair network hardware, including routers, switches, access points, firewalls, VPN endpoints, and wifi devices. Assign IP addresses and run patch cables in IDF and datacenter environments for end-user equipment. Install updates and software patches on network hardware. Configure new equipment using templates and modify configurations per senior administrators' instructions.
 * Respond to user requests for troubleshooting network access, performance, or Moves/Adds/Changes. Provide service to end users and IT coworkers. Travel to remote sites as needed for troubleshooting or related tasks.
 * Add or remove users from Active Directory groups matching firewall policies. Review firewall logs and network equipment backups. Ensure systems function properly, report and respond to issues, and escalate as needed.
 * As directed, configure network-related systems, including VLAN assignment, access port configurations, DNS records, web filter adjustments, onboarding of departmental equipment, remote access group membership assignments, and domain registration and renewals.
 * Learn Company Infrastructure and Processes:
 + Perform activities under the guidance of senior administrators
 + Participate in regular training sessions to increase knowledge of company systems
 + Prioritize learning and process adherence over autonomous decision-making

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is included in the county's alternate workweek program, working 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position when an offer of employment is extended.

This is not a remote work position. This position is eligible for hybrid on-site/telework, subject to the Clackamas County Teleworking Policy and based on the Department's business needs. The exact amount of on-site/telework and schedule will be discussed with the hiring manager at the time of offer. The incumbent will be expected to report on-site for in-person meetings, team collaboration, training, or other operational needs as determined by the department., Incumbent typically works in a variety of settings and locations. Work requires the ability to bend, crawl, climb, stoop, and be available on-site to provide client support for the installation, repair, and maintenance of hardware and software. Incumbent must be able to lift or move personal computers, terminals, and peripheral equipment, which may weigh up to fifty pounds. Frequently works early and late hours to meet timelines, provide off-hour upgrades and maintenance, and respond to emergency situations.
