Experience & Technical Skills * 2+ years of software development experience with demonstrated success in designing and delivering enterprise applications. * Strong expertise in: o C# o .NET Framework / .NET Core * Experience building and supporting: o RESTful APIs o SQL Server and relational database design o Entity Framework Core o Data model design and scaffolding o MongoDB or other NoSQL databases * Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices. * Experience developing scalable, maintainable solutions using established architectural patterns and design principles. * Proficiency with source control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development tools. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. * Experience with Epic integrations, HL7/FHIR, and Mirth Connect strongly preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT * Location: Remote * Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and other standard office equipment. * Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. * Travel Requirements: occasional travel to the office (approximately once per quarter) for team meetings, training, or company events. ## Description The Software Engineer is responsible for building and supporting enterprise integration solutions that connect Epic with internal and external systems. This role combines hands-on software engineering, contribution software architecture, and operational ownership to ensure the delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable healthcare technology solutions. What this role exists to do * Design, develop, enhance, deploy, and support Epic integrations and related applications. * Contribute to the technical design and architectural decisions that promote scalability, reliability, and maintainability. * Partner with Epic Analysts, Product Owners, QA, and Operations teams to deliver business and clinical solutions. * Drive operational excellence through production support, incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Who it impacts * Clinical and operational teams that depend on Epic-enabled workflows. * Patients and providers who rely on accurate and timely data exchange. * Internal business stakeholders and external partners connected through integrations. * Engineering, QA, Operations, and Product teams through technical leadership and collaboration. What success looks like * Critical Epic integrations operate reliably, securely, and at scale with minimal production issues. * High-quality solutions are delivered on time and aligned with business and clinical needs. * Production incidents are resolved efficiently, with root causes identified and preventative measures implemented. * Engineering standards, code quality, and system maintainability continuously improve. * Integration platforms support organizational growth while maintaining compliance, performance, and operational stability., Software Development & Delivery * Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain applications and integration solutions that support Epic and LIMS platforms. * Contribute to the implementation of new features and enhancements aligned with business and clinical objectives. * Participate in code reviews and enforce software engineering best practices, coding standards, and security guidelines. * Support production deployments and release activities. Solution Architecture * Contribute to application architecture and technical design decisions. * Help evaluate technologies, frameworks, and approaches to improve development productivity and solution quality. Production Support & Incident Management * Serve as a Tier-2 support resource for production applications and integrations. * Troubleshoot complex technical issues; analyze logs, data flows, and application behavior to identify root causes. * Resolve incidents, implement corrective actions, and document findings. * Participate in root cause analyses and drive permanent solutions to reduce recurring issues. * Monitor application health and proactively identify opportunities for stability and performance improvements. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement * Partner with Epic Analysts, Product Owners, QA Engineers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions. * Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimations, and release planning. * Collaborate across teams to ensure successful delivery of integration initiatives and production support activities.
