Agent guide: [/agents.md](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/agents.md). --- # Applications Engineer - **Company:** Corning - **Location:** Troy, MI, United States - **Experience:** Experienced - **Salary:** $96,254.0 - $132,349.0 - **Contract:** Permanent contract - **Skills:** Computer-Aided Design, Computing Platforms, Systems Engineering, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, Laboratory Information Management Systems, Program Design Languages, Test Data - **Published:** July 23, 2026 - **Apply:** https://dejobs.org/x/x/F2388C82D2994705AB5651184D0B687C/job/ ## About the Role * BS Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, Materials, or Ceramic preferred) Required Years and Area of Experience: * Minimum 3 years of business-related experience, desired 5 years, * Experience in application engineering, account management or system engineering with automotive customers and platform technologies (preference: emissions systems) * Knowledge of competitors'/competitive technologies * Understanding of specifications and approval process (incl. boundaries, tools) * Understand the basics of global emissions legislation * Understand the basics of emission testing * Familiarity w/ QA systems (IATF16949, AIAG, PPAP, etc.) Experiences/Education - Desired * Understand current and future OEM-specific engine/system designs, strategies, functionality requirements, and implications for Corning products * Understand OEM and supply chain development processes, including series introduction * Strong knowledge of vehicle emissions systems, including substrates, filters, physical attributes, specifications, production, and quality methods * Familiar with Corning systems such as CAPA, LIMS, and WWESS * DFMEA/PFMEA experience * Thorough understanding of design tools and services, including mounting/canning, coating effects, CAD, CAE, testing, emissions testing, and prototyping * Established Corning (CET) network with knowledge of company structure, markets, and strategies * General knowledge of engine and emission control technologies, trends, customer organizations, and supply chain roles/technologies Soft Skills: * Team player with strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and project management skills * Able to read technical drawings, solve problems, write technically, and maintain strong customer focus * Self-starter with strong technical curiosity ## Description * Primary technical contact for the account * Define and interpret the customer's technical roadmap and monitor their system progress (substrates, filters, catalysts, controls, operating window, etc.) * Manage customer projects * Define customer technology and quality requirements * Coordinate and lead all customer validation projects, * Define, update, maintain Corning's technical account strategy for their customer * Define and deploy Corning's current product/support portfolio that matches the customer's needs.
