This person can be located in Las Vegas, Nevada; Austin, TX or Redwood Shores, CA. Maintain and improve our data pipelines to keep data flowing reliably from ingestion to delivery Scalable, durable data ingestion and processing pipelines (event-driven, fault-tolerant workflows; retries, idempotency, backfills, and DLQs) Own data quality by implementing monitoring, alerting, and validation Design MongoDB schemas and query/index strategies for scale (aggregation pipelines, Atlas Search/vector search where relevant) JSON-RPC data layer service that powers GraphQL (designing/maintaining RPC methods, scaling throughput/latency, and evolving contracts safely) Support AI-adjacent platform needs (embedding generation workflows, provider abstractions, prompt/model metadata, evaluation hooks) Own backend services end-to-end, from design and implementation through deployment and production support Deliver scalable GraphQL resolvers with performance-aware patterns (batching, caching, pagination) Build and evolve the JSON-RPC data access layer for GraphQL, including method design, backward compatibility, and performance tuning. Own MongoDB performance: modeling, indexing, aggregation pipelines, and measurable latency/throughput targets Build reliable serverless/event-driven components (idempotency, retries, DLQs, backpressure, rate limiting) Improve reliability and operational readiness (SLO-minded engineering, incident response hygiene, runbooks) Partner closely with frontend, product, and UX to enable features cleanly and safely Drive code quality via testing, reviews, and CI/CD improvements Mentor engineers and influence engineering standards across the team ## Related Videos - [Tips and Tricks for Working with JSON](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1229-tips-and-tricks-for-working-with-json) - [Developing the Backend with Stefan Lingler, CTO at Shpock](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100360-developing-the-backend-with-stefan-lingler-cto-at-shpock) - [Optimizing Discovery: PostgreSQL's Role in Transforming GetYourGuide's Search](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1647-optimizing-discovery-postgresql-s-role-in-transforming-getyourguide-s-search) - [Protector Of The Realm](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/591-protector-of-the-realm) - [Meet Your New BFF: Backend to Frontend without the Duct Tape](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/682-meet-your-new-bff-backend-to-frontend-without-the-duct-tape) - [Dynamic Entities in .NET: Building Low-Code Systems on Top of Entity Framework Core](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100218-dynamic-entities-in-net-building-low-code-systems-on-top-of-entity-framework-core) ## Related Articles - [20 Essential Tools For Backend Development](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/218-20-essential-tools-for-backend-development) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [What’s the Difference Between Frontend and Backend Development?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/240-what-s-the-difference-between-frontend-and-backend-development) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [The 7 Most Popular Backend Frameworks for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/403-the-7-most-popular-backend-frameworks-for-developers) - [7 Cloud Computing Trends Coming in 2025 for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/412-7-cloud-computing-trends-coming-in-2025-for-developers)
