Master's degree preferred. A clinical background is desirable but not required. * License/Certifications: Familiarity with improvement methods (Lean, Six Sigma, Microsystems, IHI Approach, Total Quality Management,etc.) as demonstrated by certifications and/or successful projects led. * Experience: Three years of experience in operational improvement role, preferably in a healthcare setting. * Knowledge of performance improvement methods (Lean, Six Sigma, Microsystems, IHI approach, Total Quality Management, etc.) and project management as demonstrated by certifications and/or successful projects led. Black belt certification is preferred. * Familiarity with healthcare quality measurement, current knowledge of regulatory and reporting issues in healthcare quality. * Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and negotiate effectively with all levels of management and outside agencies. * A high level of analytical skills necessary to work with skilled data analysts and use of data for improvement. * Recognition of the value and unique opportunities that the research and education missions of MMC bring to optimizing performance improvement and the patient care experience. ## Description This position is responsible for assessing, developing, and implementing performance improvement programs at MaineHealth, with a focus on healthcare quality, patient safety, and creating an exceptional patient experience. In addition, this individual provides oversight for the system-based Operational Excellence program. Collaborating with MaineHealth and MMC executive teams, department directors, clinical chiefs, service line leadership, and academic leaders, the director will nurture the environment of continuous improvement and patient satisfaction needed to achieve strategic organizational objectives. The Director will utilize the Operational Excellent platform to work with stakeholders to develop project strategies and goals focusing on results in areas of improving clinical quality and safety, patient experience, cost containment, revenue enhancement, staff engagement, and customer satisfaction. In addition, the Director supervises and mentors performance improvement practitioners, oversees projects, and develops metrics that will drive cross-functional improvements while ensuring alignment and support of strategic goals. The director reports to the MMC VP of Quality and Safety and is responsible to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of performance improvement and patient safety projects.
