Knowledge of systems and functions, including design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation. * Available for 7 x 24 application support * Strong problem-resolution skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner. * Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train, support, and work collaboratively with users of clinical information systems at all professional and technical levels. * Detail-oriented, with proven organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and see projects through to completion on deadline. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information and instructions to all levels of clinical applications users in a specific, clear, and concise manner. * Strong analytical skills and knowledge in documentation and reporting, with the ability to design and execute tests, analyze system performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses. Preferred Qualifications * Ability to work with senior staff and managers, serving as a technical resource and providing advice and counsel on issues of functionality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, policy, and performance. * Academic Medical Center experience * Certified Lab Specialist (CLS) or equivalent license * Certifications: + Beaker Clinical Pathology (CP) + Beaker Anatomic Pathology (AP) ## Description The APeX Application Analyst - Beaker functions as the primary support contact and expert for the Beaker lab applications. They work under the direction of the Team Lead and/or the Lab Information Systems (LIS) Manager and participate in the planning, design, build, and testing for the Epic Beaker LIS implementation. They continue to support the Beaker application post-go-live and collaborate with Lab and/or Pathology operations to optimize their workflow processes. In-depth knowledge of laboratory application and operational requirements, and the ability to translate those into system specifications and configuration, is required. Assists with other technical activities, including the analysis of new releases to determine how workflow should be modified, building and populating databases and tables during initial system configuration, conducting system testing, and conversion data validation. The application analyst aids with the development and documentation of project requirements, test plans, internal procedures and establishes change control processes for the application. The APeX Application Analyst - Beaker works with the Principal Beaker Trainer to develop user training aids and trains end users in workflow and use of the application. They function as the primary contact to troubleshoot problems and questions from end-users during training, go-live, stabilization and ongoing support (7x24). Successful candidates are skilled communicators who made decisions independently and in collaboration with others up and down the project structure. Attention to detail is a critical skill for this position. Successful candidates enjoy helping other users learn and adapt to use of the application. The APeX Clinical Applications Professional III - Beaker analyst must have 3+ years of experience with LIS application build in a hospital setting. Prior work experience at UCSF, Benioff Children's Hospital - Oakland or other academic Medical Centers is strongly preferred. Certification and experience with one or more of the following Epic applications is preferred, but not required. * Beaker Clinical Pathology (CP) * Beaker Anatomic Pathology (AP) The candidate selected for this role will be required to obtain certification within 6 months of hiring in one or both of the above applications, if not already completed. Additional certifications, such as with middleware software may also be required. Certain terms and conditions of employment for this position, including the rate of pay, benefits, etc., are currently subject to negotiation with the appropriate union. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $102,100 - $175,000 (Annual Rate). This includes interoperability with other third party systems and devices.
