Deep hands-on experience migrating from non-SAP sources into SAP. Full-scope enterprise migration experience spanning Finance (FI/CO), Supply Chain (MM, SD, PP, WM), HR/HCM, Plant Maintenance / EAM, and Master Data (business partner, material, customer, vendor). Working expertise across multiple migration toolsets. Demonstrated focus on delivery quality. Comfortable engaging SI leadership as a peer: knows when to escalate, when to accept an SI's judgment, and when to hold position; can distinguish genuine constraints from convenient ones. Hands-on advisor: runs working sessions, chases actions, maintains plans day-to-day, and retains senior-level judgment throughout. Deep understanding of S/4HANA data models, business partner concept, universal journal, material ledger, and the structural changes from legacy ERPs. Strong grounding in data migration methodology: ETL design, staging strategies, reconciliation, cutover sequencing, fallback planning, and hyper care data support. Regulated-industry experience with hands-on exposure to at least one of HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, GDPR, FedRAMP, or comparable frameworks. Demonstrated ability to translate compliance requirements into data migration controls. Excellent written and verbal communication; can move fluidly from executive readouts to deep technical review with the SI's data engineers., Prior experience specifically with Oracle EBS as the source system. Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, or similar platforms as staging or reconciliation environments for large-scale migrations. SAP certifications (S/4HANA, Data Migration, or comparable). Experience in regulated environments beyond baseline compliance - audit-heavy sectors such as financial services, healthcare, life sciences, pharma, or government. ## Description Advisory & Oversight Serve as the client-side senior authority on SAP data migration; face off to the System Integrator's data lead as a technical peer. Review and challenge the SI's data migration approach and push back where the approach carries unnecessary risk, cost, or downstream operational burden. Advise the program on migration architecture decisions specific to greenfield S/4HANA from non-SAP sources (Oracle EBS, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft, custom systems), including source-to-target data model translation and legacy-concept-to-SAP-concept mapping. Advise on tooling selection when the SI's approach is still open and evaluate trade-offs on fit, cost, timeline, and regulated-industry auditability. Hands-on Coordination & Delivery Own day-to-day execution coordination of the client-side data workstream across all domains. Keep the migration task plan current, flag slippage early, and drive resolution. Serve as the daily point of contact with the SI's data migration team; track integrator deliverables and escalate delays. Run regular working sessions with client data owners and the integrator's team; chase open actions, decisions, and deliverables between meetings. Data Cleansing & Quality Set and monitor cleansing standards across data domains against agreed quality thresholds; validate that the SI's quality criteria are fit for S/4HANA go-live. Coordinate with business data owners to keep cleansing on schedule; unblock issues with the right people rather than deferring upward. Surface data quality risks the SI may not flag (missing legacy concepts, silent data loss in transformation, dependencies across domains) before they become critical. Load Cycles & Reconciliation Organize and track mock load cycles across all domains. Review reconciliation results independently of the SI. Ensure business teams complete validation tasks within cycle windows and that findings are actioned. Governance, Compliance & Cutover Ensure data migration activities comply with the organization's data classification policy and applicable regulatory requirements throughout extraction, staging, transformation, and load. Maintain the data migration cutover plan; coordinate extraction and load scheduling with the SI and technical teams. Prepare data readiness inputs for go/no-go decisions and provide informed, independent risk assessment to program leadership. Support hyper care on data-related issues post go-live. Reporting & Communication Support migration status reporting and RAID logging for program leadership. ## Related Videos - [Replacing Excel with SAP APIs & Python validation](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1944-replacing-excel-with-sap-apis-python-validation) - [How Cisco embraced a DevOps culture within its network engineering team](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/99-how-cisco-embraced-a-devops-culture-within-its-network-engineering-team) - [Remote Driving on Plant Grounds with State-of-the-Art Cloud Technologies](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/251-remote-driving-on-plant-grounds-with-state-of-the-art-cloud-technologies) - [Hacking AI at the Edge of the Indian Ocean](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100177-hacking-ai-at-the-edge-of-the-indian-ocean) - [AWS Migration within 3 months](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/196-aws-migration-within-3-months) - [Beyond SQL Generation: How to Teach Agents What Your Database Actually Means](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100127-beyond-sql-generation-how-to-teach-agents-what-your-database-actually-means) ## Related Articles - [Making Data Warehouses Fast: A Developer’s Story](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/107-making-data-warehouses-fast-a-developer-s-story) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [Top Big Data Technologies That You Need to Know](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/108-top-big-data-technologies-that-you-need-to-know) - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Best Companies to work for in London: Top 25 Companies in 2023](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/187-best-companies-to-work-for-in-london-top-25-companies-in-2023) - [MLOps – What’s the deal behind it?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/125-mlops-what-s-the-deal-behind-it)
