High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience working with GIS, mapping systems, drafting, data management, or related technical work; OR associate degree in a related field and one (1) year of experience as listed above; OR bachelor's degree in a related field. In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully. Special Qualifications (May be required depending on area of assignment): * Valid Florida Driver's License * Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations * Other knowledge, skills, abilities, and credentials required for a specific position KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: * Basic knowledge of GIS principles, mapping systems, and spatial databases * Basic knowledge of computerized cartographic and mapping software * Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and applicable departmentor organization specific software and ability to learn and become proficient in the use of specialized GIS software * Skill in operating computers and related peripheral equipment * Ability to read and interpret maps, aerial photographs, deeds, plats, and legal descriptions * Ability to maintain accurate records and perform detailed technical work * Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing * Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines * Ability to correctly interpret and apply applicable policies and procedures * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those interacted with during work regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, disability, marital status, gender, age,pregnancy or any other class protected by law. ## Description Performs technical duties related to the maintenance and support of the Geographic Information System (GIS). Work involves assisting with the creation, editing, updating, and maintenance of parcel maps, spatial data, and related GIS databases using deeds, legal descriptions, aerial imagery, and other records associated with the Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system. Work is performed under direct to general supervision with limited to moderate latitude for independent judgment and initiative. Position typically involves processing clearly defined assignments and assisting higher-level GIS staff with mapping projects and database maintenance activities.
