This is both a strategic and hands-on role. You'll think in roadmaps and long-term architecture, but you'll also be close enough to the systems and the team to execute when it matters. If you're energized by building something from a lean foundation, and by partnering with sharp, high-ownership people to get it right, this role was built for you., Strategy & Leadership * Define the IT vision and roadmap, aligned to company growth and goals * Own IT budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships (hardware, software licensing, telecom, managed services) * Build and lead the IT function as the company scales, including hiring, mentoring, and developing team members * Support executive leadership with technical guidance and reporting * Represent IT in cross-functional and leadership discussions Infrastructure & Systems * Own network and systems administration across the company, on-premise and cloud * Manage company systems including Google Workspace, Windows Server platforms, Mac OS, Shopify, and NetSuite (ERP) * Lead system integrations across ERP, ecommerce, HRIS, and ATS platforms * Research, evaluate, and recommend new systems, applications, and hardware as the business scales * Own disaster recovery, backup solutions, and business continuity planning Security & Compliance * Own security compliance, risk management, and data protection across the org * Oversee monitoring of server and firewall logs, network traffic, virus scanning, and vulnerability response * Conduct user activity audits and manage account access, including onboarding/offboarding technology workflows in partnership with the People team * Create and maintain IT policies, SOPs, and training for the broader team Operations & Support * Oversee hardware and software support, inventory, deployments, and troubleshooting * Serve as the escalation point for end user technical issues, ensuring fast resolution and minimal downtime * Own key IT projects and implementations from planning through execution ## Related Videos - [Recruitment Reinvented: Bold strategies and the $10K signing incentive](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1068-recruitment-reinvented-bold-strategies-and-the-10k-signing-incentive) - [WeAreDevelopers LIVE - Markdown, Liquid and Checkouts](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1814-wearedevelopers-live-markdown-liquid-and-checkouts) - [Beyond the 9–5: Designing Work Around Humans](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1321-beyond-the-9-5-designing-work-around-humans) - [Teini - an extremely small webshop leveraging awesome and free tech](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/286-teini-an-extremely-small-webshop-leveraging-awesome-and-free-tech) - [Coffee with developers - Brian Morrison](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/902-coffee-with-developers-brian-morrison) - [Beyond Webhooks: The Future of Scalable API Event Delivery](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100312-beyond-webhooks-the-future-of-scalable-api-event-delivery) ## Related Articles - [Should Tech Managers Be Developers First?
