Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and basic specifications. Working knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, DraftSight, or similar. Strong written communication, documentation, organization, and follow-up skills. Comfortable working with manufacturing personnel, toolmakers, quality technicians, engineers, and production supervisors. Practical problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn manufacturing processes hands-on. Preferred Qualifications Experience or exposure in precision manufacturing, heat treating, metal forming, blades, tooling, stamping, grinding, machining, or similar environments. Exposure to job travelers, routers, work instructions, manufacturing packets, ERP/MRP systems, or product release processes. Basic understanding of GD&T, inspection planning, optical inspection systems, fixtures, guards, or shop-floor improvement projects. Success Profile Organized, careful, curious, and steady under competing priorities. Able to ask good questions, respect experienced tradespeople, and balance office documentation with hands-on manufacturing support. Physical / Work Environment Works in both office and manufacturing areas. May require walking production areas, observing machinery, reviewing tooling or fixtures, and following standard plant safety and PPE requirements. ## Description Position Summary: The Applications Engineer supports the product realization process from initial customer or internal request through production release. This role gathers requirements, prepares new product packets and job travelers, supports routing and documentation, and assists with low-complexity machine, fixture, and process-support design. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically curious, and comfortable learning from both Engineering and the shop floor. Key Responsibilities Coordinate the product realization process for new and revised parts from request through production release. Gather and clarify customer, sales, quality, tooling, and production requirements; identify missing information before work begins. Create and maintain new product packets, job travelers, routing information, work instructions, and supporting documentation. Review drawings, specifications, samples, and customer requirements for completeness and manufacturability concerns. Work with Engineering, Tool & Die, Quality, Production, and Sales Support to convert scattered requirements into clear shop-floor instructions. Support quoting, feasibility, corrective-action, and process-change activity by organizing technical information and feedback. Assist with low-complexity machine design, fixture design, brackets, guards, tooling aids, and process support items using CAD.
