You will be a traditional company employee. This role is remote for now, but we like to keep things flexible. There may be times when we'll ask you to come into the office, think of it as an occasional change of scenery. You'll be working 40 hours a week and, of course, enjoy great company benefits. This is a hands-on leadership role, which means you'll spend your days designing, building, troubleshooting, and occasionally untangling delightfully complicated software right alongside your team. One moment you might be helping shape technical direction, the next you're pairing with an engineer to solve a tricky problem or jumping into a project that suddenly became today's top priority. (It happens. We're nimble like that.) We're looking for someone who enjoys wearing a few different hats, and doesn't mind that some days those hats change before lunch. Beyond building software, you'll help build people. You'll coach engineers, celebrate wins (big and small), remove roadblocks, and create an environment where trust, accountability, and collaboration come naturally. You'll lead initiatives across our Core Systems, help deliver great software to the people who use it, and do whatever it takes to keep the team moving forward. If your management style is less "send me a status update" and more "let's figure this out together," you'll fit right in., * Responsible for leading 4-8 engineers across 1-2 teams, accountable for the team's productivity, delivery, morale and overall success * Aligning individual and business goals through employee performance reviews, talent alignments and regular one-on-ones * Leads the charge on upgrading and managing Core Systems to the the software platform as a whole * Acts as technical expert, designing, developing, and maintaining applications, both new and existing, ensuring adherence to specifications and high-quality data architecture * Independently handle application modifications and maintenance, alongside custom programming and performance optimization * Tackle complex, high-priority technical challenges, ensuring the resolution aligns with design and performance standards * Uphold software excellence through robust testing methodologies and ongoing development in Ruby on Rails applications * Commit to the delivery and continuous improvement of high-quality software products * Acts as final decision maker on technical issues within their domain of expertise ## Related Videos - [Navigating the Corporate Jungle: Life as a Developer in a large Company](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/621-navigating-the-corporate-jungle-life-as-a-developer-in-a-large-company) - [The Laravel Core - Demystify The Beast](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/98-the-laravel-core-demystify-the-beast) - [Leveraging Real time data in FSIs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/806-leveraging-real-time-data-in-fsis) - [The user in the eye of the Cargo1492 storm](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/96-the-user-in-the-eye-of-the-cargo1492-storm) - [Lessons learned from observing a billion API requests](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1574-lessons-learned-from-observing-a-billion-api-requests) - [Tomorrow's cloud data platforms - fully managed database-as-a-service (DBaaS)](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/254-tomorrow-s-cloud-data-platforms-fully-managed-database-as-a-service-dbaas) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [From developer to manager – what does it take to become an engineering manager?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/42-from-developer-to-manager-what-does-it-take-to-become-an-engineering-manager) - [Should Tech Managers Be Developers First?
