Are you ready to help shape the future of aircraft maintenance with your expertise in Operations Research, ML and AI? What will you do? As an E&M Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in developing and industrializing advanced data-driven insights, and (optimization) models. You will advise the organization on the opportunities of Data Science and Operations Research. Together with our Agile/SCRUM Big Data Development team, you will deliver impactful data-driven products that optimize aircraft maintenance. Examples of our challenges include: * Optimization of aircraft phase out planning We developed a Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) model to optimize aircraft component phase-out plans. The model determines the optimal allocation of components during fleet phase-out, minimizing costs such as redundant shop visits while ensuring compliance with phase-out requirements. * Optimization of maintenance planning We design and implement Operations Research models to optimize maintenance scheduling. By leveraging Mixed Integer Linear Programming, we help planners determine the optimal timing and allocation of maintenance activities for each aircraft, while at the same time considering the flight schedule. * Optimization of maintenance decision-making How many new mechanics should KLM E&M hire in the coming years to meet future maintenance demands? And what is the most effective way to group maintenance tasks when introducing a new aircraft type? * Predictive maintenance We investigate how we can predict aircraft maintenance using Machine Learning models, to prevent operational disruptions and to proactively take measures. * Supply chain optimization How should inventory be distributed across multiple warehouse locations to maximize service levels while minimizing costs and CO2 emissions? You will work alongside a diverse group of Data Scientists, Data and Software Engineers, Business Analysts, Information Analysts, and more.
