Health or health-tech experience is a strong plus. * A technical or scientific foundation with a degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering, or a related field, and a demonstrated habit of staying at the frontier of AI through building (or research). * Deep, current fluency in modern AI/LLMs to tell a real technical advantage from a wrapper, to make good build-vs-buy calls, and to guide founding teams credibly. * Commercial and product judgment to know which problems are worth solving and which to kill quickly. * The credibility to be taken seriously by clinicians, executives, and entrepreneurs - you earn trust inside institutions and move with urgency once you have it. * No investing experience is required, though experience mentoring or advising other founders (as an angel, accelerator mentor, advisor, or founder-helping-founders) is very helpful since a core part of this role is helping founding teams make great early decisions. Who You Are Technology Innovator. You have a track record of leveraging AI and emerging tools to create extraordinary productivity and impact. You've built systems and workflows for yourself far more sophisticated than basic ChatGPT usage, and you're constantly experimenting with new ways to disrupt yourself. This role will be a great fit if these resonate: * You're a true builder who has made good technical decisions in uncertain environments and can credibly guide founding teams to success. * Founders seek you out for technical advice and trust your judgment on the hard calls - you've been the person others lean on to get their product and architecture right. * You have strong, specific views on how LLMs change what's buildable in healthcare - and conviction in at least one area where you think most people are wrong. * You spend disproportionate time with clinicians, founders, and operators; a few sharp primary conversations answer questions weeks of secondary research cannot. * You surface risks early and communicate directly - strong opinions, loosely held. * You have the speed to kill: you say no quickly to concepts, founders, and your own ideas, so nothing lingers in an uncertain state. * You are profoundly motivated to transform healthcare and see technology and company building as the calling through which you can better the world. ## Description Redesign Health and Cedars-Sinai have launched a Digital Innovation Platform, a first-of-its-kind venture creation engine embedded inside one of the world's premier academic medical centers. The platform pairs Redesign's healthcare company-building methodology with something no standalone venture firm can offer: Cedars-Sinai's 4,500+ physicians and nurses, an expansive clinical network of 40+ hospitals and sites of care, a purpose-built synthetic and de-identified data platform, and a standing commitment to serve as the first customer for every company the platform creates. Ideas originate from the clinicians and researchers who see problems up close every day; the companies that emerge are validated in real clinical environments before they ever reach the broader market. Initial focus areas include personalized medicine, specialty care access, hospital workflow optimization, clinical decision support, and care coordination., We're looking for a technical builder who has done it before and knows what it takes to take an idea from -1 to 0 and turn it into a real product and a real company. As Director of Technology, you are the technical engine of the Redesign-Cedars-Sinai partnership. Working alongside the VP of Technology, AI Ventures and the New Ventures team, you'll embed inside Cedars-Sinai's clinical ecosystem to find the problems worth building companies around, judge whether the technology to solve them actually works, and help diligence and then support exceptional founders to turn validated clinical theses into enduring companies.
