You care about code quality, system design, testing, and the long-term health of what you build, and you know when to disagree and commit. * A modern, intentional approach to AI in your workflow. You use AI agents on the work they're genuinely good at, then interrogate what comes back harder than a colleague's PR, and you can tell the difference between code that looks right and code that is right. * Fluency in more than one statically typed language. We work primarily in TypeScript, but we value engineers who think beyond a single ecosystem. * Strong understanding of API design and data access patterns, with the judgment to make sound decisions about data modeling, access patterns, and abstraction boundaries in systems that need to evolve over time. * Comfort working in a cloud-native, infrastructure-as-code environment. We run on AWS with CDK; you should be able to work confidently within it and read the systems you deploy into. It would be great if you also have: * Experience building marketplace, matching, or network-effect products, particularly in hyper-local or two-sided contexts. * Data engineering experience, building pipelines, working with analytics infrastructure, or designing systems that support data-driven decisions. * Mobile application development experience, particularly in cross-platform frameworks like Flutter or React Native. * Familiarity with healthcare technology and the regulatory landscape (HIPAA, PHI handling, etc.). ## Description We're looking for a Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our engineering team and help build the technical foundation of Coral Care's next phase of growth. You'll report directly to our Head of Engineering and work across the entire stack, the React frontend that families and providers interact with, the Node.js services that power our marketplace, and the matching logic, clinical workflows, and AI-powered systems we're building to support care delivery and decision-making. A core part of this role is building within our API and data layer, owning specific domains, implementing them well, and making sound decisions within an architecture the team holds together. Like many fast-moving startups, we've built on platforms that got us to where we are, and we're now migrating to a modern stack. You'll need to be pragmatic about shipping on what exists today while helping us build toward what's next. You'll have real ownership here, over features and domains that matter, and over how well they're built. This is a role for someone who can take a scoped, ambitious problem and run with it independently, knowing when a decision is theirs to make and when it belongs to the wider team. You'll work cross-functionally with our operations, clinical, and go-to-market teams on problems that matter to real families and therapists. You should care deeply about your craft, have strong opinions about how great software gets built, and be excited to work on a product that genuinely matters. What You'll Do * Own specific domains within our API and data layer, implementing them independently, making sound local decisions about data modeling and access patterns, and bringing the system-wide calls to the team. * Help execute our migration to a modern architecture, moving specific systems onto our typed TypeScript/Node.js monorepo on AWS, working to a sequencing plan the team sets together, so nothing breaks for families mid-session. * Contribute to the matching and marketplace logic, building the systems that pair families with the right local providers, and helping ensure correctness and explainability as our AI-driven matching comes online. * Build across the stack: React for families and providers, and the Node.js services behind them, working fluently within our infrastructure-as-code setup (AWS, CDK). * Uphold our engineering practices, holding to the testing, code review, and design-doc standards the team sets, and helping strengthen them as you go. * Help ensure HIPAA is a property of the system, working within the data flows, access controls, and audit paths that keep PHI handled correctly by construction. ## Related Videos - [Intro to Flutter Development](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/170-intro-to-flutter-development) - [Stop using Node.js like in 2020!
