You'll implement well-tested code against established architectural patterns, work closely with senior engineers to grow your design judgment, and use AI-assisted development tools as a standard part of how you work. What You'll Do: * Design, build, and test features within an assigned domain (order management, catalog, invoicing, connectors, etc.) under the guidance of senior engineers and the team's technical lead. * Write clean, well-tested code following existing patterns and conventions; contribute to code review for peers. * Use AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) as a core part of your daily workflow for scaffolding, test generation, documentation, and navigating unfamiliar or legacy code. * Critically evaluate AI-generated code and suggestions before merging: verify correctness, security, and fit with existing domain models rather than accepting output at face value. * Participate in the full development lifecycle: requirements analysis, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring. * Diagnose and resolve bugs and production issues, escalating appropriately when root cause requires senior/staff involvement. * Contribute to technical documentation and runbooks for the features you build. * Collaborate with Product, QA, and other engineers to translate requirements into working software. * Participate in on-call rotation and incident response. ## Related Videos - [How a Small Team Shrank a Microsoft Monorepo by 94%](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1236-how-a-small-team-shrank-a-microsoft-monorepo-by-94) - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [Understanding Kubernetes in a visual way](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100085-understanding-kubernetes-in-a-visual-way) - [The Intent Engineer: Closing the Gap Between Business & Engineering - Manuel Klein](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1855-the-intent-engineer-closing-the-gap-between-business-engineering-manuel-klein) - [Microservices: how to get started with Spring Boot and Kubernetes](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/242-microservices-how-to-get-started-with-spring-boot-and-kubernetes) - [Git for Code Reviews](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/429-git-for-code-reviews) ## Related Articles - [Is Software Engineering Hard?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/448-is-software-engineering-hard) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [The 12 Best Jobs for Software Engineers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/401-the-12-best-jobs-for-software-engineers) - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Software Engineer Career: Things You Should Know](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/143-software-engineer-career-things-you-should-know)
