## About the Role

* Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
 * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience.
 * Extensive experience installing, configuring, patching, and sustaining Oracle Database environments.
 * Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager and Oracle Data Guard.
 * Strong Linux administration and command-line experience.
 * Experience developing Bash scripts for database administration and automation.
 * Experience troubleshooting database availability, performance, backup, and recovery issues.

Desired Qualifications

 * Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL database platforms.
 * Oracle database certification.
 * Experience supporting highly available databases in secure enterprise environments.

## Description

Markon is seeking a Database Engineer to support the Fort Meade customer by designing, optimizing, and maintaining secure, high-performance database environments supporting mission operations. This role develops scalable database architectures, automates administration, optimizes performance, and ensures the integrity, availability, and security of mission-critical data across enterprise platforms.

 * Engineer, install, configure, and sustain enterprise Oracle database environments.
 * Plan and execute database patches, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle maintenance.
 * Administer Oracle Enterprise Manager for monitoring, alerting, and operational management.
 * Implement and maintain Oracle Data Guard for availability and disaster recovery.
 * Develop Bash scripts to automate database administration and recurring maintenance tasks
 * Monitor database health, capacity, performance, and storage utilization.
 * Troubleshoot complex database, Linux, connectivity, backup, and recovery issues.
 * Implement database security controls, hardening standards, and access-management practices.
 * Document database architectures, configurations, procedures, and recovery plans.
 * Provide senior technical guidance to application, infrastructure, and operations teams.
