Preference will be given to candidates located in the greater Austin area who possess dependable transportation and can promptly respond to on-call notifications. As part of our selection process, we will be conducting an in-person second interview that will serve as a Practical Application segment to assess candidates' skills and technical proficiency. This position provides a life/work balance with typically a 40-hour work week and travel limited to training (e.g., conferences/courses). Enterprise Technology is dedicated to supporting the mission of the University of Texas at Austin of unlocking potential and preparing future leaders of the state., This position will support the on-site network communications requirements across the University of Texas at Austin environment., * Under supervision maintain network asset information, equipment sparing process, and lab organization. * Under supervision provide semi-skilled field support to install, troubleshoot, and maintain the university's network and voice systems to provide requested improvements for campus units. * Maintain relationships with ET and unit representatives to address immediate needs, troubleshoot network and telecom systems, and maintain university inventory items. * Provide basic support for standard network design, troubleshooting, and after-hours event support. Driving university owned vehicles to job sites will be required for this position. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy UTS157. * Provide feedback and identify problems with organizational evaluation of new network technologies, proof of concept projects, and configuration automation. * Raise visibility of issues to network engineers of issues with automation processes, fault detection, standardized operations, and life cycle management. * Perform other related functions as assigned., The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length., Employees may be required to report violations of law under Title IX and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).
