If you've spent your career in a large product organization - one small part of a big team, working a narrow lane, with everything prepped, documented, and handed to you as ready-made user stories - this will feel like a different job, because it is. Here, you run your own shop. You chase down the answers you need, communicate directly and efficiently with developers, keep your own projects on the rails, and take responsibility for the whole chain from idea to release. Nobody spoon-feeds you the details; strong project management skills aren't a nice-to-have here, they're the job. You'll collaborate daily with the Head of Product, our CTO, six senior full-stack developers (local and remote), and four QA engineers. We deliberately don't hire juniors on the development team: it's a well-organized, highly efficient group where everyone takes ownership of their work. That makes them great colleagues to build with - and it means you're expected to operate at the same level. One role, two flavors: Dutch or English We have a clear preference for a Dutch speaker, because our customers are (mostly, for now) Dutch. If you speak Dutch, your role extends beyond execution: you'll conduct customer interviews, run discovery conversations, and join strategic sales calls as the product expert in the room. Don't speak Dutch? Still apply. As we scale internationally, an English-speaking, remote Product Owner works just as well - you'll focus on execution, domain mastery, and delivery, while direct Dutch customer contact runs through the Head of Product and our customer-facing teams. Fluent English is essential either way; it's the working language of our development team., * 4+ years as a Product Owner or Product Manager in a fast-paced B2B SaaS environment. * A self-managing operator. You manage your own shop: you plan your own projects, follow through without chasing, communicate proactively, and never sit back waiting for work to arrive fully prepared. Strong project management skills are essential. * A problem-space thinker. You don't build what people ask for - you interrogate stakeholders and customers until you find the actual pain behind the feature request. * A user-story expert. Your stories and acceptance criteria are so complete that edge cases are defined before anyone asks. * Technically fluent. Strong grasp of modern software development, API logic, and standard SaaS UX patterns. * AI-first in mindset. Our ideal candidate doesn't just "use ChatGPT sometimes." You may not know every tool yet - that's fine - but you have the curiosity, drive, and learning speed to build an AI skillset that genuinely accelerates your work, without anyone telling you to. * Confident with customers (especially for the Dutch-speaking flavor): comfortable on calls with prospects and clients, at ease in sales settings, and skilled at asking non-leading interview questions. * Languages: fluent English required; native or fluent Dutch strongly preferred. * Bonus: previous exposure to or affinity with logistics, transport, or compliance software. ## Description We're looking for a Product Owner to become the right hand of our Head of Product - someone who owns product execution end-to-end so that strategy gets the full-time attention it deserves. You'll turn high-level direction into shippable increments, guard the backlog against noise, and - thanks to our AI-first setup - even ship smaller features to production yourself, without waiting on an engineer's sprint., You'll work directly with our Head of Product as their execution counterpart. They set the strategy and direction; you make it real. That means mastering the (genuinely interesting) logic of our tachograph platform, translating strategy into well-sliced development increments, and acting as the gatekeeper who makes sure we only build things that solve real customer problems., * Translate strategy into execution. Turn high-level epics from the Head of Product into sharp user stories and acceptance criteria that capture the underlying business value - so well-defined that developers rarely need to ask "but what happens if…?" * Guard the backlog. Be the primary filter for product feedback. Dig to the root problem behind every request before it touches the backlog, group ideas by business goal (churn prevention, upselling), and separate must-haves from nice-to-haves. * Slice and ship. Own sprint prioritization. Cut multi-sprint epics so the very first sprint delivers a standalone, releasable increment that creates value on day one. * Ship smaller changes yourself. Our AI infrastructure lets you take a small feature from idea to production: write the spec with AI, let Codex assess and implement it, push the PR, get it reviewed and QA'd, and watch it go live - no engineering sprint capacity required. * Own UX decisions. Make smart, independent calls on functional implementations and UI/UX flows, grounded in B2B SaaS best practices and real customer insight. * Be the internal product expert. Serve as the go-to technical point of contact for sales and support. Answer complex product questions and work with support and marketing to turn new features into clear knowledge-base articles, release notes, and product manuals. * Measure and optimize. Define and track product analytics (PostHog, Microsoft Clarity, Google Analytics) to spot adoption trends and friction points. * (Dutch speakers) Talk to customers. Run deep-dive interviews and follow-up conversations with our Dutch-speaking clients, validate solutions before a line of code is written, and support the sales team on strategic calls. ## Related Videos - [Building an agentic software factory: How we rebuilt product development at Pipedrive](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100261-building-an-agentic-software-factory-how-we-rebuilt-product-development-at-pipedrive) - [ Evaluating AI models for code comprehension](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1462-evaluating-ai-models-for-code-comprehension) - [Building the Nervous System of AI - Michael Kagan (NVIDIA)](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2133-building-the-nervous-system-of-ai-michael-kagan-nvidia) - [Employee Advocacy: The Secret Weapon of Employer Branding](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1304-employee-advocacy-the-secret-weapon-of-employer-branding) - [The user in the eye of the Cargo1492 storm](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/96-the-user-in-the-eye-of-the-cargo1492-storm) - [Streaming AI Responses in Real-Time with SSE in Next.js & NestJS](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1630-streaming-ai-responses-in-real-time-with-sse-in-next-js-nestjs) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [How to land a developer job in Amsterdam](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/36-how-to-land-a-developer-job-in-amsterdam) - [Software Developer Salary in The Netherlands [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/217-software-developer-salary-in-the-netherlands-2023) - [How to Find Tech Jobs in Amsterdam](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/279-how-to-find-tech-jobs-in-amsterdam) - [The Netherlands – Europe’s powerhouse for software development?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/31-the-netherlands-europe-s-powerhouse-for-software-development) - [Navigating the AI Shift](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/629-navigating-the-ai-shift)
