The Datacenter Technician may be the primary point of contact for both internal customers (for example: Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, Software Developers, etc..) and external customers (Hardware Vendors, Contractors, Service Providers among others). Key job responsibilities Problem Solving: * Maintain high system reliability by prioritizing and resolving trouble tickets efficiently, serving as an escalation point and technical troubleshooter for systems and network hardware problems. * Investigate and resolve complex Linux server issues. * Troubleshoot XEN service virtualization problems. Technical: * Troubleshoot technical issues across systems, networking, and power/mechanical domains. * Remediate physical layer outages in systems and networks, including power-related problems. * Participate in data center power and cooling events. Operations: * Work rotating shifts to meet 24/7 on-call requirements. * Install and configure server racks per internal SLAs. * Triage and resolve trouble tickets for all devices in the assigned region. * Act as the data center point of contact for high-severity issues. * Replace server and network device parts as needed. * Ensure correct rotation of spare parts. * Contribute to uptime improvement metrics. * Enforce Amazon's security best practices. * Interact with third-party vendors, contractors, and remote hands/eyes. Project Management: * Participate in and deliver high-impact small to mid-scale projects. * Attend team meetings for metric analysis and project status updates. * Contribute to building the world's largest cloud infrastructure.
