You know how to support your teammates, but also how to reach out for help when stuck on a complex problem. You welcome opinions and feedback from others and actively contribute to making the team a great environment to work in. * You are an experienced Elixir developer (we use Phoenix with Postgres, RabbitMQ, Redis, and Oban). * You care about architecture and testability. You know how to balance continuous refactoring with delivering new functionalities. You understand how valuable a good automated tests suite is and proactively tend to it. * You have a keen eye for details, but also know when to look at the big picture in order to make good product decisions. You have some experience looking at a problem both from the technical and business perspective, and this reflects on the solutions you suggest and build. * Some knowledge about frontend development is a plus. * Communication: fluent English is a must, Polish is a plus. ## Description We are looking for a product-minded Senior Backend Engineer with Elixir to join Team Grow, the team at Tellent who delivers and maintains our performance management and employee development product. Grow is a mature platform that hundreds of our customers rely on. Here are a few examples of what it offers: advanced workflows to run performance review campaigns, personalised employee engagement surveys, as well as a customisable skills library to support skills-based talent management throughout all our other products. And we have more exciting projects in the plans! All of this is powered by Elixir, and as such we are looking for a talented individual who not only knows how to deliver performant and scalable software, but also empathises with the needs of our customers and knows when to ask "why" before building. Your 12-Month Journey * First 3 months: you'll get to know our team, the ins and outs of our product, and make your first technical contributions. * Within 6 months: you'll own a slice of the domain end to end, including helping the team make sensible product and technical decisions, and being a go-to reviewer. * After 1 year: you'll drive the architectural decisions that best serve both our existing customers and the future evolutions of our product. You'll mentor other engineers coming to our product. What You'll Be Doing * You'll build new and evolve existing product capabilities. This includes documentation, testing, and making sure that what you build meets our quality standards, including performance. * Shape our product: as a product-minded individual, you'll actively challenge assumptions and contribute your own ideas in order to achieve the best possible outcomes. This includes building prototypes when necessary and knowing when to make trade-offs. * Collaborate: expect to work closely with your teammates (our engineers, designer, QA specialist, and Product Manager) and across disciplines on a daily basis. We understand that difficult challenges are best solved together. We value regular pairing and real-time problem solving alongside independent work. Clear and proactive communication (in English) is very important to us. ## Related Videos - [Meet Your New BFF: Backend to Frontend without the Duct Tape](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/682-meet-your-new-bff-backend-to-frontend-without-the-duct-tape) - [Developing the Backend with Stefan Lingler, CTO at Shpock](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100360-developing-the-backend-with-stefan-lingler-cto-at-shpock) - [Bringing digital education to refugee and host communities in remote regions of Africa](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/644-bringing-digital-education-to-refugee-and-host-communities-in-remote-regions-of-africa) - [Reducing LLM Calls with Vector Search Patterns - Raphael De Lio (Redis)](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1714-reducing-llm-calls-with-vector-search-patterns-raphael-de-lio-redis) - [Build and Deploy a Fullstack App with Open Source Tooling](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/775-build-and-deploy-a-fullstack-app-with-open-source-tooling) - [Nest.js - TypeScript in the backend can also be clean](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1033-nest-js-typescript-in-the-backend-can-also-be-clean) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Find a Developer Job: 12 Best Job Sites For Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/165-find-a-developer-job-12-best-job-sites-for-developers) - [Finding Jobs in Germany](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/375-finding-jobs-in-germany) - [The Biggest German Tech Companies](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/424-the-biggest-german-tech-companies) - [Backend Developer Salary in Germany [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/196-backend-developer-salary-in-germany-2023) - [Where To Find Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/396-where-to-find-software-engineering-jobs)
