## About the Role

This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong expertise across AWS database services, performance tuning and high availability.

Clearance required: BPSS + SC (It needs to be an active SC with a government agency used within the last 6 months)

Essential Skills

 * Expert knowledge of AWS Aurora, Amazon RDS and PostgreSQL
 * Strong database architecture, schema design and data modelling experience
 * SQL optimisation, query tuning and execution plan analysis
 * Performance tuning, indexing and database optimisation
 * Backup, recovery, replication, failover and disaster recovery
 * Troubleshooting complex production database environments
 * Data reconciliation and data integrity validation
 * AWS services including IAM, CloudWatch, KMS, VPC and Secrets Manager
 * Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
 * CI/CD experience
 * Excellent stakeholder management and technical leadership skills

Desirable

 * AWS Database Specialty or AWS Solutions Architect certification
 * Experience with MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB or Redis
 * Public Sector or other highly regulated environments

## Description

We're recruiting for an experienced SC Cleared Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join a major public sector programme, supporting the design, optimisation and resilience of critical AWS-hosted database platforms.
