As a GIS Technician, you will support this mission by creating, maintaining, and improving geospatial data that underpins OPPD¿s transmission and distribution systems. You will work closely with GIS, planning, engineering, and operations teams to ensure accurate mapping of facilities, land base information, easements, and work order activities. Your work will directly support system design, construction, maintenance, and operational decision-making across the district. The Impact You'll Have * Create, modify, and maintain geospatial datasets that support OPPD¿s electric system infrastructure * Convert and maintain electronic and hard-copy maps, atlases, and records to ensure accurate and timely information for engineering, design, construction, and operations * Support spatial analysis and mapping needs for work order activities and project planning * Ensure accuracy, completeness, and electrical connectivity of GIS models * Make corrections identified through quality checks to maintain compliance with district and regulatory standards * Collaborate directly with engineering, Business Technology, T&D Operations, and other internal partners * Operate scanning, copying, and plotting equipment to support engineering documentation workflows * Update MUD Sheets to maintain accurate schematic representations of network primary underground wiring * Support GIS Specialists and contribute to continuous improvement of GIS processes and tools, This position is considered an essential position meaning when business necessity and continuity needs are emergent, this position will be required to report to work and may be required to work hours beyond an employee's normal shift. Maintain regular and predictable attendance in alignment with Departmental policy. Must be available for overtime work and call-outs as required to ensure continuance of efficient operation. Environment Office/Field: Work will be performed in a modern office environment amid normal conditions of dust, odors, fumes, and noises. Work will be performed outside in a wide variety of weather conditions (snow, rain, heat, cold, wind, etc.), terrain, and other natural environmental hazards as well as pollen and other airborne allergens. Work will be performed in high traffic environments. Will work around energies high voltage electrical equipment. Will work in construction areas that present many physical hazards. Physical Demands: Frequent requirements of this position; sitting, speaking, hearing, ability to see information in print and electronically, keyboarding, and handling object with hands. Must have the ability to work on multiple tasks at one time, work under stressful situations, operate a computer and other office equipment, sit at a desk for more than one hour at a time, move about the company. Occasional requirements of this position; standing, walking on rough terrain, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying at least 20 pounds.
