Agent guide: [/agents.md](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/agents.md). --- # Mainframe Consultant - **Company:** Matlen Silver - **Location:** Chandler, AZ, United States (Remote available) - **Salary:** $62,400.0 - $72,800.0 - **Contract:** Temporary contract - **Skills:** Customer Information Control System (CICS), Data Centers, IBM DB2, Relational Databases, Disaster Recovery, Tivoli Management Framework, Job Entry Subsystem 2/3, Mainframes, Data Processing, Omegamon, Servicenow - **Published:** July 15, 2026 - **Apply:** https://www.indeed.com/viewjob?jk=3537f242bf8a8ad8 ## About the Role * 5+ years of enterprise experience * JES2 commands * MVS commands * IPL process flows * System automation - SA/ 390 - automates the manual JES2 and IPL commands * Disaster recovery Nice to haves: * strong soft skills * triage experience - troubleshooting * 1st level support team exp * db2 (database 2)- relational database management system * Being able to escalate issues to respective teams * knowledge automating the storage process, * Candidate must have 5 or more years of console operations work experience in a large scale multi-platform data center. * Candidate must understand the sensitive and critical nature of data processing and service level agreements and be able to proactively contribute to organizational goals and delivery targets. * Technical experiences include operator level knowledge of JES2 and MVS commands sets and console operations. * The ability to navigate and provide operator level control over CICS. * Knowledge of standard mainframe tools such as: MAINVIEW, Omegamon, Tivoli, SA/Zos, CAO, OPS/MVS, TMON, NETVIEW, TBSM, and HMC * A working knowledge of VTAM/SNA, IPL and POR procedures is required. * Experience with ticketing tools such as BMC Remedy or Service Now. ## Description * This role provides the first level response for all mainframe infrastructure issues. * This role will assist in the planning, development, and implementation of infrastructure solutions involving cross-functional technical experts to meet specific deployment requirements aligned with available playbooks and technical blueprints. * This individual is viewed as a technology domain subject matter expert (SME); able to provide and communicate technology solutions across differing audiences including technical, managerial, and/or vendors. * This role will participate in multiple projects and activities related to special initiatives or operations. * This individual will lead the resolution process for problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of various factors. * In addition, this individual will exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. * Additionally this role supports change activities helping to ensure mainframe infrastructure changes are implemented successfully within the scheduled change window. * This role requires a strong working knowledge of mainframe infrastructure, strong system IPL skills and the software running on it.
