Drive novel solutions with groups of other engineers. * 5+ years building and operating cloud infrastructure at meaningful scale * Expert-level depth in Terraform or a closely related infrastructure-as-code tool * Deep experience designing and operating CI/CD systems * Strong observability background: metrics, tracing, log pipelines, and alerting strategy * Experience building internal tooling or platforms other engineers use daily * Experience running containerized and serverless workloads in production * Security-minded by default: identity, network exposure, authentication boundaries, and vulnerability remediation * Demonstrated daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) Nice to Haves: * Comfortable reading, modifying, and shipping application code * Background in cloud cost visibility and optimization * Experience building internal AI tooling or agent-accessible integrations * Experience operating platforms for streaming media, ad tech, or large device fleets ## Description We're currently looking for a highly motivated Senior Platform Engineer to own the foundation our engineering teams build on: the infrastructure, delivery pipelines, and observability tooling behind a streaming platform serving 60,000+ businesses and over 150 million monthly viewers. Your customer is every engineer here, and your success is measured by how fast and confidently they ship. You'll drive platform initiatives end-to-end, from modernizing how we build and deploy software to keeping our infrastructure definitions honest, retiring what we've outgrown, and leading upgrades of the core systems everything else depends on. Some of this work reaches into application code, and you should be comfortable following it there. It's important that this person treats AI as a force multiplier, using it aggressively to move faster than a platform team twice the size. This position will report to the VP, Engineering, and is on-site in Austin, TX! Availability to be in-office 4-5 days a week is required. What you'll do * Treat AI as a core part of how you ship, and build the tooling that makes AI effective for every other engineer. * Own our infrastructure-as-code practice: module design, standards, coverage, and keeping declared state and reality converged. * Own our CI/CD systems: pipeline architecture, build infrastructure, and the speed and reliability of the path from commit to production. * Define observability patterns and best practices across the org, so every service is measurable, debuggable, and alertable by default. * Lead upgrades of datastores, runtimes, frameworks, and SDKs ahead of end-of-life deadlines, including the application-code changes they require. * Drive security remediation: triage cloud security findings, harden identity and network configuration, and close authentication gaps. * Champion simplification by decommissioning unused infrastructure, deleting dead code, and keeping our footprint (and cloud bill) no larger than it needs to be. * Raise the resilience bar: safe deploy patterns, graceful degradation, and incident response focused on root-cause fixes. * Automate away recurring toil: dependency upgrades, environment provisioning, and the routine work that interrupts product engineers. * Work cross-functionally to prioritize platform investments by impact. ## Related Videos - [Shipping Faster with Less: Render on Cloud Hosting, AI Workloads, and the Future of DevOps](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1894-shipping-faster-with-less-render-on-cloud-hosting-ai-workloads-and-the-future-of-devops) - [Debugging in the Dark](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1658-debugging-in-the-dark) - [Python-Based Data Streaming Pipelines Within Minutes](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1233-python-based-data-streaming-pipelines-within-minutes) - [Infrastructure as Code: The Developer's Secret Weapon](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1221-infrastructure-as-code-the-developer-s-secret-weapon) - [Platform Engineering vs. DevOps Why not both?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/885-platform-engineering-vs-devops-why-not-both) - [Why and when should we consider Stream Processing frameworks in our solutions](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1085-why-and-when-should-we-consider-stream-processing-frameworks-in-our-solutions) ## Related Articles - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Dev Digest 137 - AI'm not sure about this](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/485-dev-digest-137-ai-m-not-sure-about-this) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [The Best X (Twitter) Accounts for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/294-the-best-x-twitter-accounts-for-developers) - [Navigating the AI Shift](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/629-navigating-the-ai-shift) - [What is Software Engineering in the Age of AI?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/640-what-is-software-engineering-in-the-age-of-ai)
