Help Us Redefine Vehicle Dynamics for the Electric Era. At Ford, braking is no longer just about stopping a vehicle - it's the foundation of regenerative braking for our cutting-edge EVs, the backbone of active safety for our advanced Driver Assist Technologies (like BlueCruise), and a critical node in our Software-Defined Vehicle architecture. As a Chassis Controls Software Application Design and Release Engineer, you won't just write or manage code - you'll be the architect bridging the gap between sophisticated software algorithms and physical vehicle dynamics. Your work will show up on the road every single day, keeping millions of drivers safe while delivering the exhilarating driving experience Ford is known for. Join the Ford Product Development team, where Design Thinking and User Experience methods drive us to deliver breakthrough products that delight our customers and define tomorrow's transportation. Why This Role Is Different. **High Visibility, High Impact** This is a pivotal role on a quality-driven team where your decisions directly influence vehicle launches, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, and advanced vehicle safety systems used by millions of drivers. **A Culture of Growth** Work under supportive leadership that prioritizes your career trajectory, encourages technical curiosity, and gives you the autonomy to solve complex engineering challenges - with the backing of one of the world's most iconic automakers. **At the Center of Innovation** Collaborate across disciplines with prototype vehicles, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) simulators, and global suppliers to bring new technologies from concept to production. Are You Ready to Lead? You'll lead the application of both in-house and supplier software for sophisticated electronic brake and/or steering systems - owning the software from concept, through validation, to the customer's driveway. What You'll Do + **Own Software & Calibration Delivery** - Manage timing, coordination with vehicle builds, OTA software updates, and change management processes. + **Guide Suppliers** - Lead supplier partners through the Ford Global Product Development System (GPDS). + **Support Driver Assist Features** - Contribute to the software enabling Ford's advanced driver assistance systems. + **Deliver Work Packages** - Execute the software change management process, including release documentation, functional validation, and OTA updates. + **Enable Network Communication** - Implement cross-module network communication (OTA, CS, MA, E2E, PARSED, etc.). + **Diagnose & Resolve** - Investigate Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) issues, including Quality Early Detection (QED). + **Support Documentation & Testing** - Contribute to service manual development, Breadboard/HiL issue resolution and software updates, and prototype vehicle builds (root-cause analysis, flashing software, etc.). + **Release with Rigor** - Publish diagnostics specifications and ensure compliance to Central SW requirements. + **Lead Technical Reviews** - Drive SW Technical Design Reviews (TDRs) that shape the future of chassis software. + **Support Production** - Assist assembly plant End-of-Line (EOL) setup and issue resolution. + **Work in Agile** - Learn and participate in SW AGILE processes. + **Shape Requirements** - Support Chassis Controls requirement development. + **Innovate the Toolchain** - Evaluate new software development toolchains and processes. ## Related Videos - [Leveraging Large Language Models for Legacy Code Translation: Challenges and Solutions](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1157-leveraging-large-language-models-for-legacy-code-translation-challenges-and-solutions) - [Tips and Tricks for Working with JSON](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1229-tips-and-tricks-for-working-with-json) - [Car's are Technology on Wheels - Impact of Software and IT Competence in Automotive](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/780-car-s-are-technology-on-wheels-impact-of-software-and-it-competence-in-automotive) - [Building a hypercar from scratch](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/607-building-a-hypercar-from-scratch) - [Software stack under and over the hood of the fastest accelerating car in the world](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/221-software-stack-under-and-over-the-hood-of-the-fastest-accelerating-car-in-the-world) - [Agile work at CARIAD – Creating a customer web application for controlling the vehicle ](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/200-agile-work-at-cariad-creating-a-customer-web-application-for-controlling-the-vehicle) ## Related Articles - [How software is steering vehicle technology](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/515-how-software-is-steering-vehicle-technology) - [What is Software Engineering?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/289-what-is-software-engineering) - [7 Important Tips That Every Software Developer Should Know](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/101-7-important-tips-that-every-software-developer-should-know) - [Now is the time for industrialized software development](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/601-now-is-the-time-for-industrialized-software-development) - [Top Characteristics of a Software Engineer](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/166-top-characteristics-of-a-software-engineer) - [Software Engineer Career: Things You Should Know](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/143-software-engineer-career-things-you-should-know)
