The Office of Advancement oversees and guides the fundraising efforts of the entire Smithsonian and is home to the central advancement organization for the Institution. In addition to raising significant support for a variety of Smithsonian initiatives, the Office of Advancement provides support services to advancement offices across the Institution. The office engages with staff throughout the Smithsonian in accomplishing their goals., The Supervisory IT Specialist serves as the technical lead for Salesforce reporting, analytics, and data architecture supporting the Smithsonian's advancement and fundraising operations. The incumbent manages a team of three report developers responsible for the design, development, and delivery of Salesforce reports and dashboards, CRM Analytics (CRMA), Tableau visualizations, and enterprise reporting solutions. The position provides strategic leadership for the design, implementation, and optimization of the organization's AWS-based data warehouse, enabling advanced analytics, data modeling, and scalable reporting capabilities. Working closely with Advancement leadership and unit stakeholders, the incumbent translates fundraising and operational requirements into innovative Salesforce and analytics solutions that improve decision-making, reporting, and data accessibility. The incumbent establishes reporting standards, incorporates AI efficiencies and automation, oversees reporting best practices, and ensures the accuracy, reliability, and performance of enterprise reporting platforms. This position applies advanced knowledge of Salesforce, CRM Analytics, Tableau, cloud data architecture, and fundraising business processes to deliver integrated reporting solutions that support the Smithsonian's philanthropic objectives while leading continuous improvement initiatives across the reporting analytics, and predictive modeling portfolio., Qualified applicants will have demonstrated experience with advancement information systems evaluation, implementation and operation, including experience with large and complex databases including specific technologies and best practices in data integration, query design, data validation/automation, analytic functions, AWS data warehouses, ETL (extract, transform, load) and relational database structure. An excellent track record of user support and demonstrated effectiveness in advocating for and delivering technology in support of the business function. A demonstrated ability to anticipate problems, identify opportunities, and take a proactive approach to project management. Strong leadership skills and the ability to train, mentor, direct, and validate the work of team members, previous supervisory experience. Strong written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to build relationships and inspire others.
