You'll also serve as an on-call first responder for the services your team owns, keeping them reliable in production. This is a backend-first, full-stack engineering role for someone who loves building high-quality distributed systems, writing clean and scalable code, and taking full ownership of their work from design to production. You'll collaborate closely with product, platform, and related teams to build reliable, production-ready systems at scale. You'll work on foundational platform capabilities used across multiple Whatfix products, operating at scale and under real-world enterprise reliability, performance, and security constraints. This role offers the opportunity to deepen your technical craft, raise the quality bar on the systems you own, and grow toward broader architectural ownership. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship, either now or in the future. What You'll Do * Own the full lifecycle of your features - design, task breakup, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and subsequent fixes and improvements * Build and evolve scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines that power Whatfix products * Own the technical design of your features and contribute to broader design discussions within your problem space * Break stories and features down into well-scoped tasks, ensuring each can be completed within ~5 days * Write clean, concise, well-tested, and maintainable code that others can easily understand * Improve the development experience by enhancing dev tooling, test coverage, and code structure * Ship features with the right testing, monitoring, and operational readiness * Serve as on-call first responder for the software your team owns, resolving issues within SLAs and putting measures in place to reduce recurrence * Perform code reviews that uphold engineering standards and that your team finds genuinely helpful * Align with adjacent teams on design and code wherever your work touches their codebase ## Related Videos - [Inside Bitpanda's Tech Stack: Scaling a European Fintech Leader - Markus Dorner](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1979-inside-bitpanda-s-tech-stack-scaling-a-european-fintech-leader-markus-dorner) - [Leveraging Real time data in FSIs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/806-leveraging-real-time-data-in-fsis) - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [Developing the Backend with Stefan Lingler, CTO at Shpock](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100360-developing-the-backend-with-stefan-lingler-cto-at-shpock) - [Meet Your New BFF: Backend to Frontend without the Duct Tape](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/682-meet-your-new-bff-backend-to-frontend-without-the-duct-tape) - [NoSQL Data Modeling for Front-end Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/297-nosql-data-modeling-for-front-end-developers) ## Related Articles - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [The 8 Best Code Testing Tools](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/402-the-8-best-code-testing-tools) - [The Best X (Twitter) Accounts for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/294-the-best-x-twitter-accounts-for-developers)
