**Published:** May 20, 2026 - **Apply:** https://jobs.military.com/career/222927/senior-cybersecurity-engineer-virginia-va-alexandria ## About the Role * Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly.\n * Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Assurance, Engineering, or related technical discipline and 8-12 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in a related field and 6-10 years of relevant experience.\n * Minimum of 8 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering or related field.\n * At least one of the following foundational qualification pathways consistent with DoD 8140 requirements:\n \n + Current DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification appropriate for Intermediate Cyber Defense Analyst roles (e.g., CySA+, Security+, CASP+, or equivalent),\n + Offerings listed in the DoD 8140 Training Repository,\n + Demonstrated equivalent training and experience qualifying under DoD 8140 foundational qualification alternatives.\n \n * Experience supporting cybersecurity engineering, monitoring, or defense operations in DoD or Federal environments.\n * Experience with vulnerability management tools (e.g., ACAS, Tenable, or similar) and log analysis tools (e.g., Splunk, ELK).\n * Experience analyzing threats, vulnerabilities, and system security posture.\n * Experience applying NIST SP 800-53, RMF, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.\n * Experience operating within SAFe or Agile frameworks supporting enterprise systems.\n * Familiarity with NIST security controls, IdAM services, continuous monitoring, cross-domain security services, and Zero Trust compliance.\n * Proficiency in configuring and managing FOSS, COTS, and GOTS security tools.\n * Experience in preparing and maintaining cybersecurity artifacts and Body-of-Evidence (BOE) required to support the DoD RMF process.\n * Experience in developing and sustaining secure development, deployment, and operational practices.\n * Experience in managing security incidents, conducting vulnerability analysis, and enforcing security policies.\n, * Experience supporting cybersecurity operations across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS environments.\n * Experience implementing Zero Trust architecture and continuous monitoring solutions.\n * Experience supporting DevSecOps-integrated cybersecurity practices.\n * Experience supporting enterprise data, AI/ML, or cloud platform cybersecurity initiatives.\n * Relevant advanced cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, or equivalent).\n * Experience implementing enterprise-scale Zero Trust Architecture.\n * Experience with automated compliance, configuration management, and continuous monitoring solutions.\n * Experience supporting advanced threat detection, security analytics, or SIEM/SOAR integration.\n * Experience supporting secure enterprise data, analytics, or AI platforms in multi-enclave environments.\n * Experience with cloud-based environments and DevSecOps practices.\n * Familiarity with AI/ML model serving and integration.\n * Experience in site reliability engineering and defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level objectives (SLOs).\n ## Related Videos -
