A day in the life The role involves some periods working independently from your team and requires the ability to drive change while maintaining excellent communication., Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent - 2+ years of Linux troubleshooting, such as, firmware flashes, and bios configuration experience, or experience in networking - 2+ years of in data center or critical environment in Computer Hardware Repair, Infrastructure Cabling, Network Deployment, or Data Center Operations experience, or experience with fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment & troubleshooting methodologies Preferred Qualifications - Experience in server technologies such as, thermal, mechanical, power, and signal integrity - Knowledge of Linux or Unix systems administration - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or experience with fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment & troubleshooting methodologies - Experience with TCP/ICP networking fundamentals and application of IP protocols such as: DNS, DHCP, NTP, SMTP, and SNMP - 4+ years of data center engineering or operations, or 4+ years of relevant discipline work experience ## Description AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As a Colocation Technician in AWS you will get to help build and maintain a Cloud Computing Infrastructure across a number of local and remote Edge locations in the Americas., Installation and configuration of routers, switches and DWDM hardware. * Troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling, network installations and configuration. * Coordinating colocation remote hands for new capacity installations. * Coordinating colocation remote hands and eyes for any network issues. * Resolving colocation facility issues. * Identify, coordinate, and remediate outside plant (OSP) connectivity issues. * Participating in small to mid-size projects creating or expanding colocation sites. * Building relationships with remote facilities to ensure swift response times to events. * Performing site audits to ensure safety and quality meets AWS standards. * Improving all operational processes within each site and/or cage. * Updating AWS tools. * Providing status updates to stakeholders via internal tools. * Decommissioning of cabling and network hardware in collaboration with partner teams as needed. Your day job will include (but not limited to): * Physical Requirements (all physical requirements may be done with reasonable accommodations). * This position has a physical component requiring the ability to lift & rack equipment up to 40lbs; it may require working in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines. * This role involves up to 60% travel, including some international travel.
