This includes mechanisms, sealing systems, sodium-compatible components, and fluid systems used in fuel handling, cleaning, and storage. You will play a critical role in turning concepts into reality-building test rigs, running experiments, diagnosing failures, and driving rapid iteration. This role is highly hands-on and requires both engineering judgment and practical fabrication skills. You will work in an environment where requirements are evolving and ambiguity is high. Success in this role requires ownership, creativity, and the ability to move quickly to unblock progress. Responsibilities: * Design and build test rigs for mechanical, thermal, and fluid system validation * Execute tests on components such as valves, seals, hoists, and handling mechanisms * Develop test strategies for systems operating in sodium, inert gas, and high-temperature environments * Instrument systems (pressure, temperature, force, radiation proxies, etc.) and collect high-quality data * Diagnose failures and work with design engineers to iterate quickly * Perform hands-on fabrication, assembly, and modification of test hardware * Develop procedures for testing sodium vaporization, sealing performance, and mechanism reliability * Document results and clearly communicate findings, risks, and blockers * Support system integration and commissioning efforts * Travel occasionally to test sites or reactor installations ## Related Videos - [How To Test A Ball of Mud](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/173-how-to-test-a-ball-of-mud) - [The Algorithm That Nearly Killed Me: When Testing Isn't Enough](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2110-the-algorithm-that-nearly-killed-me-when-testing-isn-t-enough) - [WeAreDevelopers LIVE - Modern DevOps for IoT Devices and More](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1805-wearedevelopers-live-modern-devops-for-iot-devices-and-more) - [Answering the Million Dollar Question: Why did I Break Production?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1171-answering-the-million-dollar-question-why-did-i-break-production) - [More efficient software for more efficient microchips](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1164-more-efficient-software-for-more-efficient-microchips) - [How I Built QA from Scratch in a Scaling Startup - no fluff real life story](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2041-how-i-built-qa-from-scratch-in-a-scaling-startup-no-fluff-real-life-story) ## Related Articles - [The 8 Best Code Testing Tools](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/402-the-8-best-code-testing-tools) - [Software Developer Salary in Austria [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/213-software-developer-salary-in-austria-2023) - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [Where To Find Software Engineering Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/396-where-to-find-software-engineering-jobs) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers)
